Wrexham AFC and Royal Bank of Canada Join Forces
In an exciting announcement, Wrexham AFC has confirmed that the Royal Bank of Canada (RBC) will serve as its official banking partner and back-of-kit sponsor for the 2026/27 season. As one of the top ten banks globally by market capitalization, RBC is not only enhancing its presence in the sports world but also demonstrating its support for local communities.
Starting from the opening match of the season against Cardiff City, fans can expect to see the RBC logo displayed prominently on the back of the teams' jerseys, located just above players' names and numbers. This branding will be featured across all home, away, and third kit designs for both the men's and women's teams.
RBC has a long-standing tradition of backing sports and entertainment initiatives worldwide, including live music, international cinema, and various levels of sports. With over twenty years ranked among the world's top 100 most valuable brands, RBC has solidified its position as Canada’s premier financial institution while supporting local and international communities alike. The partnership with Wrexham AFC is a natural extension of RBC's commitment to fostering social impact through sports.
In addition to the direct sponsorship, RBC has pledged to support the Wrexham AFC Foundation. This initiative aims to harness the power of football to positively impact the lives of children and youth in Wrexham and North Wales.
Dave McKay, President and CEO of RBC, expressed excitement about the partnership, stating, "At RBC, we believe in the importance of strong and thriving communities where we live and work. Wrexham AFC exemplifies this ethos. What started as a bold idea has evolved into one of the most remarkable stories in sports—with three promotions in three seasons and the community at the heart of it all. We are proud to partner with a club that shares our belief in the power of community and we cheer them on as they write the next chapter of their story."
Co-owners Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds also shared their enthusiasm for welcoming RBC to Wrexham. "One of us opened our very first bank account with the Royal Bank of Canada – we’ll let you guess who! For us, this partnership holds a personal significance. We are eager to showcase RBC's global reach while Wrexham continues its ascent to international football prominence."
Michael Williamson, CEO of Wrexham AFC, added, "It is with great pleasure that we welcome the Royal Bank of Canada into the Wrexham AFC family as our official banking partner. We value our mission, which is to give our community reasons to be proud, and our partnership with RBC—an institution that prioritizes its clients in its global community—aligns perfectly with that mission. We look forward to working with RBC to create new experiences for our fans, both in Wrexham and around the world, as well as for RBC's international clientele."
RBC is a global financial institution known for its commitment to innovative practices and exceptional customer experiences, serving over 19 million clients across Canada, the United States, and 27 other countries. As the largest bank in Canada, RBC employs over 101,000 staff who leverage their creativity and knowledge to realize the bank's vision and mission.
As Wrexham AFC prepares for another thrilling season in the EFL Championship, the collaboration with RBC promises to enhance its community engagement and international profile significantly, marking an integral step forward in the club's trajectory towards becoming a top-tier team in English football.
