Celebrating Everyday Heroes in Los Angeles
In a city known for its glitz and glamour, Mercury Insurance and the LA Kings are turning the spotlight onto the unsung heroes of Los Angeles. As they kick off the second season of their
Hockeywood initiative, the focus is squarely on those individuals whose everyday acts of bravery, compassion, and community service make the city extraordinary. This unique program aims to recognize and honor the local heroes who uplift their neighborhoods and inspire others.
The Spirit of Hockeywood
Launched as a shared vision between Mercury Insurance and the Kings, Hockeywood is designed to spotlight the individuals whose actions contribute positively to the fabric of Los Angeles. From healthcare workers to environmental activists, and from community organizers to passionate youths engaged in philanthropy, every honoree is a testament to the heart and strength of the city.
Erik Thompson, Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer at Mercury Insurance, emphasizes the purpose behind this initiative, stating, "Our partnership with the Kings has always been about connection and celebrating the people who make LA the incredible place it is. Hockeywood allows us to recognize LA's unsung heroes who do amazing things to enhance their communities daily."
Recognizing Honorees
Each Hockeywood honoree receives a VIP experience that not only includes tickets to a Kings game but also in-arena recognition, a personalized award, and a prestigious place on the Hockeywood Wall of Fame. Last season, the initiative honored ten outstanding individuals such as Khloe Thompson, the compassionate teen behind the Khloe Cares charity; CHLA nurses Jean Mendoza and Helen Wang, who selflessly dedicate their lives to patient care; Kendal Troutman, an entrepreneur committed to philanthropic efforts through his organization Thru Guidance Ministries; and LAFD Captain Nick Rose, a figure of bravery during challenging times like the Eaton and Palisades fires.
Nominate Your Local Heroes
The door for nominations is now open, inviting fans to partake in this heartwarming initiative. Local residents can nominate their own heroes to join the Hockeywood Wall of Fame, with the campaign's online platform making it easy for community members to celebrate those who have made a significant difference.
Additionally, Mercury will once again engage Kings fans with Pro Tip Trivia throughout the season, adding an element of fun and competition. This trivia game combines entertainment with practical knowledge, allowing fans to win premium Kings jerseys while enjoying the matches. Beyond the live games, Kings Trivia Tuesdays will also enable fans to join from the comfort of their homes.
