T5 Smackover Partners Strengthens Leadership with New Appointments

T5 Smackover Partners, a subsidiary of T5 Holdings, LP, located in Texas, is positioning itself as a key player in advancing the energy potential of the East Texas Smackover region. The company has recently made significant strides by appointing Cole Fisher as President and Robert H. Edwards, Jr. to its Strategic Advisory Board. These changes come at a pivotal moment as T5 Smackover moves toward the commercial-scale development of its projects in the Smackover Formation.

New Leadership

The recent appointments signal a notable maturation in T5 Smackover's institutional framework. The company, aided by a comprehensive resource report from W.D. Von Gonten Engineering—renowned for its expertise in petroleum engineering—is advancing rapidly in the energy sector.

Edwards brings over 30 years of extensive experience across the U.S. electric sector, critical minerals, and energy storage. He has successfully closed deals worth over $25 billion in financing for energy and automotive projects. His deep-rooted expertise includes legal frameworks within energy project development alongside practical knowledge of U.S. government financing, which will be instrumental for T5 Smackover as it charts its future.

With an impressive background that includes serving as the Deputy General Counsel at the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), Edwards has been pivotal in negotiating crucial funding agreements, including a $465 million loan that propelled Tesla's Model S assembly line. He has also held executive roles within Hamilton Clark Sustainable Capital, focusing on sustainable energy finance.

On the other hand, Cole Fisher will steer the company’s strategic direction and commercial endeavors. Before joining T5, Fisher was the Global Director of Decarbonization Business Development at GE Vernova, where he spearheaded international initiatives for sustainable energy solutions. His diverse experience in institutional business development across various sectors makes him a valuable addition to T5's leadership.

The Vision Ahead

Bruce Thompson, CEO and Founder of T5 Smackover Partners, emphasized the importance of innovation and experienced leadership in realizing the company’s geothermal strategy. He asserted that the organization aims to deliver substantial baseload battery capacity across Texas, significantly contributing to the state's energy landscape.

“We can bring this resource online in the near term—not a decade from now. When you’re working on such urgent initiatives, having seasoned innovators like Cole and Rob is essential,” Thompson stated.

Current Initiatives

Currently, T5 Smackover Partners is focused on harnessing the potential of the Smackover Formation to support America's energy independence. The company aims to unite the right partners and capital required to scale these initiatives effectively.

The Smackover region is emerging as a critical zone for both geothermal energy harvesting and the extraction of essential minerals. This potential places T5 Smackover at the forefront of the energy transition, driving forward-thinking solutions well ahead of broader market trends.
