Famous Amos Celebrates 50 Years with New Entrepreneur Initiative and Campaign
Famous Amos, a brand synonymous with rich chocolate chip cookies, is taking a bold step in celebrating its 50th anniversary. On March 12, 2025, Ferrero North America introduced the 2025 Ingredients for Success (IFS) Entrepreneurs Initiative, aiming to empower early-stage Black business owners. This initiative, established in partnership with the U.S. Black Chambers, Inc., showcases the brand's commitment to fostering the entrepreneurial spirit, reminiscent of its founder Wally Amos’s legacy.
The IFS program, now in its fifth year, offers an astonishing $150,000 in grants annually. Selected recipients will receive not only a $50,000 grant each but also mentorship, networking opportunities, and educational resources to ensure their ventures thrive. This initiative celebrates the distinct qualities of business owners while contributing to the community's growth and creativity.
Rachna Patel, Vice President of Marketing for Famous Amos, emphasized the initiative's intention to honor the founder's vision. "Wally Amos was boldly original, and his impact continues to resonate with the brand today," she stated. By empowering new generations of entrepreneurs, IFS reinforces the values that made the brand a household name.
Eligibility for the IFS initiative requires businesses to be at least 90% Black-owned, operational for five years or less, and based in the United States. Moreover, the business owners must be 21 years or older. Applications are open until April 23, 2025, with a prominent panel of judges deciding who will receive the support. This year's judges include notable figures such as Shawn Amos, son of Wally Amos, and successful entrepreneur Steve Canal.
"Fifty years ago, my father took the leap to establish Famous Amos," Shawn Amos shared. "Today, it's an honor to contribute to the growth of this initiative that reflects his dream. Many deserving entrepreneurs seek the support to elevate their businesses. IFS is built on the foundational lessons from my father to help others materialize their aspirations."
Since its inception in 2020, the IFS initiative has awarded a total of $600,000 to 12 dedicated business owners, making a significant impact in fostering economic empowerment and positive change. The program's alumni represent a wide array of successful ventures, from innovative educational tools for children to sustainable food solutions in underserved areas. Their achievements are a testament to the diverse entrepreneurial spirit that thrives within the community.
In conjunction with the IFS launch, Famous Amos introduced its "Famously You" campaign, drawing inspiration from Wally Amos's unapologetic authenticity. This new campaign not only pays tribute to the brand's history but also invites consumers to embrace their individuality. Additionally, the celebration will feature a limited release of a Collector's Edition package that harkens back to the original branding from 1975, showcasing an image of Wally Amos in his iconic Panama shirt. This special edition will be available at retailers nationwide while supplies last.
