Curatorial Insights
Uragami Mitsuru reflects on the historical significance of Shunga:
“The Shunga exhibition held at the British Museum in London 12 years ago surprised many with the artistic expression and emotional depth of Japanese culture. Despite initial challenges in hosting a similar exhibition in Japan, the eventual success demonstrated a huge public interest. Now, after a decade, we see the Shunga exhibition making its way to Shinjuku Kabukicho.”
His commitment to cultural revival through art is evident, inviting everyone to witness this captivating facet of Japanese heritage.
