Canadian Energy Metals' Breakthrough in Alumina Production
Canadian Energy Metals Corp. (CEM) has made remarkable advancements in the field of metals recovery, particularly through their recent proof-of-concept for producing Smelter Grade Alumina (SGA) from black shales at their Thor Project in Saskatchewan. This followed the release of a Preliminary Economic Assessment (PEA) in May 2026, which outlined the economic potential of producing high-value alumina from these shales. The results from both the PEA and proof-of-concept are pivotal as they will help guide the company’s future steps.
Considering the current geopolitical climate and the risks associated with supply chain disruptions, CEM's development of a secure domestic supply of alumina and critical metals could serve as a stabilizing force in the market.
