Huawei Digital Power Unveils Innovative Energy Solutions at IDEE 2026
Unveiling a New Era of Energy Innovation
From September 15 to 17, 2026, the fourth edition of the International Digital Energy Expo (IDEE 2026) took place in Shanghai, marking a significant event focused on advancements in renewable energy technologies. During this expo, Huawei Digital Power unveiled its latest advancements in the realm of energy networking and artificial intelligence (AI), under the inspiring motto, "Utilizing every ray of sunlight, delivering energy where it is lacking."
Solutions for Energy Enterprises
Huawei presented several groundbreaking solutions aimed at energy companies, including Energy Storage Systems (ESS) that support the formation of smart energy networks. These innovations cater to various sectors like commercial and industrial green energy, ultra-fast charging technologies, and AI-driven data centers that interact seamlessly with energy grids. Notably, the FusionSolar9.0 Utility PV solution was showcased as a pioneering solution in the industry.
This innovative system operates at 1000 VAC and introduces the first string inverter capable of energy networking, complemented by the industry's largest intelligent transformer substation at 11 MW. This robust system enhances the performance and operational efficiency of large renewable power plants, ensuring grid-friendliness and intelligent operational capabilities.
AI Innovations for Energy Management
The FusionSolar Agent represents a vital element in Huawei's approach, leveraging device collaboration, edge networking, and cloud infrastructure to empower customers in navigating the challenges posed by electricity market liberalization. Recently, on September 10, 2026, Huawei's intelligent I-V curve diagnostic solution achieved the esteemed L5 certification from the China General Certification Center—the first of its kind in the industry.
The systems introduced also include features for network stability across various operational conditions. Huawei has developed six essential functionalities for energy networking at the power station level, ensuring stable network generation under all circumstances. These include supporting short-circuit capacity, inertial response, wide-band oscillation damping, primary frequency regulation, black start capabilities, and seamless transitions between grid-connected and island modes.
Smart Microgrid Solutions
Huawei’s smart microgrid solution stands out due to its reliability and efficiency, showing substantial reductions in the Levelized Cost of Electricity (LCOE). This technology is actively deployed in numerous regions facing energy shortages. It supports strong and weak networking adaptations, transitioning between active and reactive power controls, as well as operating fully under Virtual Synchronous Generator (VSG) modes.
The switching time between connected and disconnected modes is a remarkable 40 milliseconds, enhancing operational flexibility and energy efficiency while guaranteeing stable electricity supply. This offering aligns with Huawei's commitment to delivering greener energy solutions tailored for commercial and industrial applications.
Comprehensive Solutions for Energy Storage
Huawei’s universal solution for commercial and industrial applications caters to diverse scenarios, including pure photovoltaic systems, only ESS setups, PV+ESS combinations, chargers+ESS, and virtual power plants (VPPs). Huawei also demonstrated its innovative Cooling Network for energy storage systems, showcasing advancements in temperature management for increased efficiency, achieving a Round-Trip Efficiency (RTE) of 91.8% and a Depth of Discharge (DOD) of 100%.
Enhancing Fast Charging Networks with AI
At the forefront of innovation, Huawei's FusionCharge integrates photovoltaic technology with energy storage systems and chargers within a smart microgrid tailored for personal and commercial vehicles. This proprietary system enhances revenue generation at charging stations by more than 15% through dual protection of grid equipment, air-liquid cooling systems, and AI-driven scheduling strategies.
Collaborating with logistics partners and urban transportation networks, Huawei aims to create an efficient, user-friendly, and grid-friendly ultra-fast charging network across the globe.
