Exploring the Creative Landscape of Music at Tokyo Metropolitan Theatre

The Tokyo Metropolitan Theatre is set to host an insightful exhibition titled 'TMT Gear: Music Creation Report' from March 4th to March 8th, showcasing the vibrant intersection of music and contemporary art. This event aims to reflect on the pervasive question, 'What is music?' through interactive displays and presentations from young artists at the forefront of the music scene.

About TMT Gear

'TMT Gear' is a long-term project that supports the development of emerging artists, funded by the Cultural Affairs Agency of Japan. This initiative was designed to enhance the foundation for cultural arts activities and has successfully selected three emerging creators in the music field through a rigorous audition process. The project not only nurtures these individuals but also engages mentors from the realm of performing arts, with maestro Kazuki Yamada, the upcoming artistic director of the Tokyo Metropolitan Theatre, leading the charge.

The exhibition presents a blend of fieldwork and in-progress creations by the selected artists: Yoshinori Nagase, Sakuhiko Fuse, and Ryosuke Yoshino. Over the past years, they have conducted immersive studies and collaborative projects across various global locales, capturing the essence of their artistic journeys within the realm of music.

Mentorship and Creation

Each participating artist benefits from a mentorship framework that encourages collaboration with experienced directors and theater professionals. This multifaceted structure includes technical staff training and the formation of a video team dedicated to documenting the creative process. 2. Sakuhiko Fuse
