New Energy Works Expands Sustainable Timber Production with NEWBeamery Facility
New Energy Works Unveils Eco-Forward Facility: the NEWBeamery
New Energy Works, an employee-owned company based in McMinnville, Oregon, has officially announced the opening of its innovative facility, the NEWBeamery. This expansion is a significant step towards enhancing production capabilities while adhering to robust sustainability principles.
Embracing Sustainable Practices
The NEWBeamery is inspired by European heavy timber facilities, featuring impressive 90-foot timber trusses. This state-of-the-art center is designed not just to produce timber but also to serve as a hub that hosts CNC equipment, ample production space, and expanded fabrication and finishing capabilities tailored for the heavy timber and glulam markets.
The ethos behind the NEWBeamery centers on sustainable construction. The facility was meticulously built using primarily sustainable materials, such as structurally sound glulam timbers, carbon-sequestering concrete, wood-fiber insulation, and a net-zero rebar system. The exterior is elegantly clad in reclaimed wood that has been sustainably sourced. This strategic selection of materials not only minimizes environmental impact but also enhances the overall efficiency of construction processes.
A Focus on Efficiency and Collaboration
By boosting production capacity in a thoughtful manner, New Energy Works aims to nurture a sustainable business model that provides local employment opportunities while making a positive impact on the community. The NEWBeamery is set to be a resource for partners and collaborators, bridging the gap between construction and efficient, cost-effective building solutions.
The facility's specialization lies in Mass Timber projects, catering to builders and architects who prioritize performance and sustainability. With a commitment to understanding and addressing the evolving needs of the commercial building sector, the NEWBeamery stands ready to empower innovative designs and construction solutions.
Contributing to Decarbonization Efforts
The overarching goal of this eco-forward facility is to play a significant role in decarbonizing the building sector in Oregon and throughout the United States. By leveraging innovative production capabilities and a strong focus on energy efficiency, New Energy Works aims to minimize the contributions of construction to the climate crisis.
The design philosophy behind the NEWBeamery ensures that the facility will yield more positive outcomes than it consumes. From its foundation to its timber framing, the facility is constructed to transform potential carbon emissions into viable climate solutions. This advancement exemplifies New Energy Works’ dedication to combating climate change through sustainable practices.
