AIR Teams Up with EDAG to Revolutionize eVTOL Aircraft Manufacturing for the AIR ONE Model

AIR Partners with EDAG to Develop New Aircraft Structure

AIR, a prominent original equipment manufacturer (OEM) specializing in midsize electric vertical takeoff and landing vehicles (eVTOLs), has made a significant stride in aviation technology through a new partnership with EDAG Group. This collaboration is aimed at the development of the primary aircraft structure for AIR's highly anticipated eVTOL model known as AIR ONE, marking a remarkable milestone in the production capabilities of eVTOL aircraft.

On June 3, 2025, in Fort Worth, Texas, AIR publicly announced the formation of this alliance, highlighting the vital role that EDAG, a well-respected engineering service provider, will play in facilitating the enhanced manufacturing processes required for the production of AIR ONE. The collaboration promises to maintain the quality and reliability standards that AIR has set while scaling up production to meet increasing market demands.

The EDAG Group has already delivered the first series of main structures for the AIR ONE, with assembly of production aircraft currently underway. This early delivery positions AIR to meet its timeline for customer deliveries by the end of the year. The new aircraft structure is designed with improved features, introducing a folding wing mechanism and folding motor arms, along with an expanded cabin space. Such features cater to the requirements of both individual aircraft owners and commercial entities that utilize the unmanned cargo variant, particularly within the logistics sector.

By enhancing operational functionality, individual owners can expect an elevated experience with improved comfort, while businesses leveraging the cargo model can benefit from quicker loading capabilities and efficient cargo securing features. The AIR ONE is designed with a cargo volume of 70 cubic feet, capable of accommodating various cargo types, from emergency stretchers to standard pallets, thus showcasing its versatility as a modular aircraft. The structure is primarily constructed from aluminum, offering a balance of strength and reduced weight – essential for meeting the diverse utilization needs of both personal and commercial applications.

Rani Plaut, the CEO and co-founder of AIR, stated, "Partnering with an industry trailblazer like EDAG is a testament to our mission of integrating automotive innovation into aviation. This collaboration not only streamlines production processes; it also contributes to bringing advanced air mobility to the masses. Our alliance with EDAG is pivotal in enabling the scalable production of AIR ONE, allowing us to better serve the rising demand for accessible air transportation solutions."

Harald Keller, CEO at EDAG, echoed this sentiment, saying, "Collaborating with AIR on the AIR ONE significantly advances our work in the eVTOL market. Our objective is to deliver high-performance, efficient designs, and this project is a prime example of that commitment. The AIR ONE's design reflects innovative approaches that satisfy diverse user needs, enabling AIR to deliver reliable air mobility solutions that EDAG is renowned for."

This partnership marks a key development in AIR's ongoing evolution. Over the past year, the company has expanded its team size and broadened its product portfolio, introducing an unmanned variant specifically designed for cargo use—targeting enterprise and logistics operations. AIR has accumulated substantial flight test hours on its full-scale prototypes, successfully demonstrating all phases of flight, including early deliveries of its uncrewed cargo variant slated for production later this year. The piloted AIR ONE is poised for delivery to general aviation customers following certification processes, having already received over 2,200 pre-orders for personal use, ensuring a growing waitlist anticipated by enthusiasts.
