KEY – The Energy Transition Expo Reports Exceptional Outcomes in 2026
The highly anticipated KEY – The Energy Transition Expo organized by the Italian Exhibition Group (IEG) concluded with remarkable results, marking a triumphant year for the event held at the Rimini Expo Centre. The expo, which plays a pivotal role in Europe, Africa, and the Mediterranean, recorded an unprecedented increase of over 10% in total attendees compared to previous years, alongside a 9% uptick in foreign visitors.
In total, the expo attracted over 1,000 exhibitors from around the globe, showcasing cutting-edge technologies and innovative solutions across seven sectors of energy transition. This year, more than 530 buyers and delegations representing 59 countries attended the event, facilitated by the Italian Trade Agency and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI). The event also garnered extensive media coverage, accrediting 412 journalists from various nations.
Spanning an impressive 125,000 square meters of exhibition space over 24 pavilions, the expo featured contributions from 1,000 brands including 320 international exhibitors. The fair was not only a platform for commercial engagement but also a stage for discussions on pivotal topics in energy evolution, focusing particularly on financial strategies, energy efficiency's role in decarbonization, and advancements in energy storage solutions.
Among the highlights of the expo was the participation of esteemed figures like Italy's Minister of Environment and Energy Security, Gilberto Pichetto Fratin. His inaugural address emphasized the importance of fostering international cooperation, particularly with African nations, showcasing Europe's industrial capabilities and technological innovations.
The expo's Innovation District highlighted the importance of new technologies and green jobs, featuring 32 startups and innovative SMEs. A significant initiative known as Green JobsSkills aimed to connect job seekers with opportunities in sustainable sectors, responding to the growing demand for eco-friendly practices.
Additionally, the event hosted the International Electricity Exhibition (DPE), which focused on electric generation, transmission, security, and automation. This segment was organized in collaboration with the Distributed Generation Association, a member of ANIMA Confindustria and Federazione ANIE.
KEY has solidified its position as one of the foremost energy events in Europe, balancing rigorous scientific discussions with engaging showcases, and is poised to return from March 10 to 12, 2027, continuing its mission in driving energy transition and sustainability.
Through its dynamic presentations and networking opportunities, the expo not only addressed current global challenges but also paved the way for innovative pathways in the energy sector.
