Highstar Introduces Comprehensive Battery Cell Portfolio for AI-Driven Data Centers

Highstar's New Battery Cell Portfolio for AI Data Centers

Highstar has made significant strides in energy storage technology with the recent launch of its comprehensive battery cell solutions, specifically designed for artificial intelligence data centers (AIDCs). This unveiling took place during the 2026 GGII Energy Storage Industry Summit, where the company showcased its innovative full-chain battery cell portfolio. This solution addresses the ever-growing demands of modern data centers with three pivotal layers, enhancing operational efficiency and reliability for AI workloads.

Addressing Data Center Demands

As AI workloads continue to surge, data centers are increasingly challenged by rising rack densities and fluctuating loads. Therefore, the need for rapid response times, aggressive backup capabilities, efficient thermal management, and improved lifecycle performance has never been more critical. Highstar’s new battery cell offerings are designed to meet these specific demands, focusing on optimization and reliability.

The portfolio includes two key products tailored for challenges in both grey-space and white-space levels of data center infrastructure. For grey-space applications, Highstar has introduced the 85Ah high-rate lithium iron phosphate battery cell. This product excels in uninterruptible power supply (UPS) and high-voltage direct current (HVDC) systems, providing robust power delivery and dependable backup solutions. Its features—such as rapid discharge, advanced thermal control, and safety mechanisms—position it as a vital component in maintaining system reliability while also managing lifecycle costs effectively.

Additionally, Highstar presents its 50Ah sodium-ion battery cells, which are particularly advantageous for environments that require operation in extreme temperatures ranging from -40°C to 80°C, further enhancing the adaptability of data center operations.

Advanced Solutions for White-Space Applications

In white-space environments, Highstar offers a selection of tabless cylindrical cells in both 18650 and 21700 formats, utilizing advanced chemistries like lithium iron phosphate (LFP) and high-nickel nickel manganese cobalt (NMC). These cells are engineered to deliver high instantaneous power with low internal resistance and minimal temperature rise, while also ensuring enhanced safety across various operational scenarios, thus accommodating a range of configurations and cost efficiencies.

By integrating these components, Highstar’s full-chain architectural design minimizes the complexity of selection and integration for system providers, empowering not just data center operators, but also power equipment suppliers and system integrators. This coordinated structure promises a seamless experience, from rack-level protection and system-level backup to upstream energy storage solutions.

Innovations in Energy Storage Technology

Highstar's cutting-edge technology melds lithium-ion and sodium-ion chemistries across both prismatic and cylindrical platforms. The development process integrates innovations in cathode, anode, electrolyte, and separator technologies using techniques that include tabless current collection and advanced pressure relief mechanisms. A defining feature of their portfolio is the directional venting capability, which enhances safety in high-demand situations.

The grid-side energy storage system, a crucial component of the battery cell portfolio, utilizes 314Ah lithium-ion cells alongside 160Ah sodium-ion cells. This combination strikes an optimal balance between long-duration energy storage capabilities, cycle life improvements, and rapid power support which collectively supports operational objectives.

Conclusion: Setting New Standards

Highstar’s proactive involvement in the launch of the '2026 Global AIDC Power Supply Industry Development Blue Book' at this summit reaffirms its dedication to shaping the future of energy storage in AI data centers. The company received accolades as a 'Top Benchmark in AIDC Energy Storage,' confirming its status as an industry leader and a benchmark for innovation in the energy storage landscape.

Through these advancements, Highstar continues to set new standards within the industry and demonstrates its commitment to fostering sustainable development in the energy storage domain, ultimately driving forward the capabilities of artificial intelligence applications in data center environments.
