Newark Winter Village Shines in Downtown Newark
As the holiday season approaches, Newark is set to transform into a vibrant winter wonderland, inviting both residents and visitors to immerse themselves in festive experiences. The Newark Alliance, in collaboration with the City of Newark and local partners, is bringing to life the Downtown Newark for the Holidays campaign, running from November 29 through January 4. This initiative highlights Newark's rich array of seasonal activities and supports the local small business community.
Discover the Newark Winter Village
At the heart of this festive endeavour lies the beloved
Newark Winter Village, located at Mulberry Commons. This year, the Winter Village expands its
Holiday Marketplace, curated by Invest Newark, featuring numerous local vendors from across all city wards. Shoppers can explore a diverse selection of handmade gifts, savor seasonal delicacies, and indulge in specialty cocktails crafted for the occasion. The Winter Village serves not only as a shopping hub but as a community focal point, linking visitors to various cultural experiences, shopping promotions, and events happening throughout the district.
"Newark Winter Village offers world-class shopping and entertainment that continues to evolve with each passing year," said Newark Mayor Ras J. Baraka. He encourages everyone to come downtown, shop, ice skate, and enjoy the holiday atmosphere that promises to lift spirits.
The Winter Village officially opens on November 29, operating from 12 PM to 8 PM. After that, it continues its schedule with evening hours on Wednesdays and weekends through January. Notably, Wednesdays are designated as Community Days, offering discounted admission and special programming for Newark residents. Although entry is free, reservations and tickets are necessary for popular activities like ice skating, bumper cars, and igloo rentals. There will also be “Learn to Skate” sessions available every Saturday morning, along with opportunities for families to take photos with Santa on select weekends.
