Midea Building Technologies Unveils Next-Gen Solutions at MCE 2026 for Sustainable Development

At the MCE 2026 exhibition, Midea Building Technologies (MBT) made a significant impact by showcasing its cutting-edge innovations aimed at promoting sustainable development. Among the three standout products were the VRF V9 system, R290 heat pump offerings, and advanced cooling solutions for data centers.

The VRF V9 system, which incorporates the groundbreaking ShieldBox II control unit and utilizes the eco-friendly R32 refrigerant, exemplifies MBT's commitment to energy efficiency and environmental responsibility. The design of the ShieldBox II, made from automotive-grade die-cast aluminum, allows a 70% reduction in size, facilitating the use of a larger heat exchanger which significantly boosts the efficiency of the outdoor unit. Additionally, its triple-zone structure provides an impressive IP68 protection rating, ensuring durability even in extreme conditions where the cooling temperature remains stable at around 30°C, thereby extending the life of internal components.

Furthermore, the VRF V9 has successfully met TÜV’s three-tier safety assessment for systems using flammable cooling agents, achieving certification that adheres to international safety standards. This development not only signifies Midea’s focus on innovation but also its leading position in the realm of environmentally friendly refrigerants and energy-efficient technologies.

MBT also showcased its range of R290 heat pumps, designed for residential, commercial, and industrial applications, with power ratings ranging from 4 kW to 70 kW. The standout product from this range, the Mars Large R290 ATW heat pump, has been honored with the MCE Excellence Award. This model delivers hot water at temperatures up to 85°C while employing the environmentally friendly R290 refrigerant. It features a full DC inverter and dual evaporator compressors for enhanced reliability, with a compact footprint of just 0.72 m² and an impressive A+++ energy rating. Notably, it maintains 100% heating efficiency at -10°C and still offers 65% efficiency at -20°C.

Moreover, MBT introduced other models, including the Arctic M4 and Mars R290 ATW heat pumps, which together provide a comprehensive selection aiming to propel the transition to heating solutions based on natural refrigerants.

To address the cooling needs of data centers, Midea demonstrated its liquid cooling solutions through an interactive model. This system merges precision coolant distribution units (CDUs), wall-mounted fans, and centrifugal chillers equipped with magnetic bearings, achieving a remarkably low annual Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) of just 1.2. Key components include the AirBoost Vera air-cooled centrifugal chiller with magnetic bearings and the CDU unit, both crafted for exceptional reliability. The AirBoost Vera offers dual power modes and a customizable THDi factor, ensuring sustenance under high operational demands with outlet water temperatures up to 36°C and a temperature differential of 20°C.

Designed with comprehensive redundancy measures, the CDU boasts leak protection and fully tested components, delivering long-term reliability.
