Leadership Scandals and Crisis Management
On November 5, 2025, the Social Design University will host a hybrid seminar titled "Exploring Leadership Scandals and Research Perspectives through Recent Cases." This event aims to provide insights into how scandals involving organizational leaders are more than just isolated incidents. They often reflect deeper issues within organizational culture, governance practices, and the intricate relationships between media reporting and public opinion.
Understanding the Seriousness behind Scandals
The role of an organization's top figures can greatly influence its reputation. When scandals emerge, they create waves that affect not only those involved but also the entire organization. During the seminar, Dr. Keiko Ishikawa, an expert in crisis communication, will guide participants through a multifaceted analysis of recent high-profile scandals.
Participants will learn about initial response strategies when crises occur, effective media communication, and the importance of disseminating information internally and externally. Furthermore, the seminar will also address how preparation and training during normal times can play a critical role in managing crises effectively.
A Focus on Sensitive Cases
One of the seminar's main focuses will be the difficult-to-manage cases of “leadership scandals” and “privacy invasions.” These often sensitive and complex situations will be explored through the lens of trend analysis and research. Attendees will delve into questions such as:
Why did it happen? What issues were raised? How can we learn from these experiences? This seminar represents a unique opportunity to systematically study the mindset and strategies necessary to uphold an organization's credibility during turbulent times.
Education and Professional Development
In addition to discussing crisis management strategies, the seminar will inform attendees about the skills and perspectives professionals should acquire to instill these values within organizations. It will also shed light on the educational role of graduate programs for working adults in achieving these objectives.
The seminar is designed for individuals from various sectors—business, government, media, and academia—who have an interest in crisis response, organizational governance, and research dissemination. We warmly invite everyone interested to participate.
