APTA's New Leadership for 2026



The American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) has officially announced its newly elected Board of Directors and officers for the year 2026. This prominent body plays an essential role in guiding the strategic vision of the organization, advocating for the interests of physical therapists, their assistants, and students across the nation to enhance the profession.

In a recent statement, APTA CEO Justin Moore, PT, DPT, expressed his enthusiasm in welcoming both new and returning members of the Board of Directors. Moore stated, "This 2026 Board brings diverse perspectives and a shared commitment to advancing APTA's strategic priorities, including improving payment systems, empowering our members, and evolving our practice. Transition of Leadership



As the year comes to a close, certain members of the current Board will transition out. These include Secretary Kip Schick, PT, DPT, MBA, and Directors Carmen Cooper-Oguz, PT, DPT, MBA; Heather Jennings, PT, DPT; along with Public Member Patrick Esmonde, MSE. Moore conveyed gratitude for their exceptional service, saying, "We are grateful to these leaders for their exceptional dedication and service to APTA and the profession. Their vision, dedication, and advocacy leave APTA stronger and well-positioned to continue building a community that is advancing the physical therapy profession."

Commitment to Democratic Processes



The APTA places significant emphasis on transparency and accountability in its governance. The organization invests in systems designed to guarantee participation integrity among delegates as well as the overall election process for its Board of Directors and Nominating Committee. Newly elected members will officially assume their roles starting January 1 of the following election year. Each elected Board member's term lasts four years, ensuring stability in leadership roles. Additionally, a public member will be appointed annually for a renewable one-year term.
