XCMG Unveils the Hanjing: A New Era in Heavy-Duty Transport

On September 20, 2026, XCMG, a leading global manufacturer of construction machinery, proudly launched its latest model, the Hanjing. This heavy-duty truck stands out with alternative energy solutions tailored specifically for long-distance freight transport. The company has emphasized key operator concerns such as range, charging speed, operational efficiency, and durability throughout the vehicle's lifecycle.

The development of the Hanjing model began in 2023, with XCMG conducting thorough visits to major logistics hubs and collaborating with large logistics firms to identify crucial requirements regarding range, charging, efficiency, and reliability. Engineers focused on several advanced features, including an electric powertrain, centralized temperature control management, torque distribution technologies, and regenerative braking systems, ensuring optimal performance for real-world long-distance operations.

The Hanjing truck features a sleek, low-drag aerodynamics cabin coupled with a proprietary integrated electric drive axle designed to minimize energy consumption. Its innovative 800V architecture allows for megawatt-level fast charging capabilities, ensuring that the battery can be charged from 20% to 80% in under 20 minutes. Furthermore, the truck's body, crafted from press-hardened steel offering 1,500 MPa strength, integrates multiple battery thermal protection systems, enhancing both vehicle and battery safety.

To aid drivers during long haul trips, the Hanjing is equipped with a centralized domain controller, highway navigation assistance, and a state-of-the-art digital cockpit. Prior to its market release, the Hanjing underwent rigorous testing across diverse conditions, including extreme temperatures, high altitudes, water-crossing evaluations, and crash tests. At the testing ground in Yan Cheng, it completed a 24-hour endurance test, successfully covering 2,198 kilometers while fully loaded at a gross weight of 49 tons, demonstrating its resilience under challenging long-distance transportation scenarios.

In addition to the truck itself, XCMG supports operators with comprehensive charging infrastructure, connected fleet management services, and lifecycle maintenance solutions, providing an integrated management system for vehicles, charging, and daily operations. Its connected vehicle platform enables fleet operators to monitor vehicle health, energy consumption, and plan vehicle routes and charging schedules efficiently.

From January to July 2026, XCMG maintained its position as the top seller of heavy-duty trucks and alternative-fuel tractors in China, a status it has held for three consecutive years. The firm’s trucks have also made significant inroads in Indonesia, Thailand, Guinea, and several other African regions. Notably, one major mining customer in Indonesia ordered an additional 100 vehicles after initially purchasing over 150 units of its 8×4 battery-powered dump trucks, each featuring a 600 kWh battery capacity.

In addition to the launch of the Hanjing, XCMG showcased its alternative-energy utility vehicles and logistical solutions for construction and transportation at the prestigious IAA Transportation 2026 in Hannover, Germany. XCMG remains committed to adapting its products to meet local regulations, road conditions, and operational practices, expanding the use of heavy-duty alternative-powered trucks from fixed routes and short distances to a more extensive range of long-haul applications.
