CeraVe Joins Global Efforts for Dermatological Care on World Skin Health Day

CeraVe's Global Commitment to Skin Health

On July 8 each year, the world observes World Skin Health Day, an initiative led by the International League of Dermatological Societies (ILDS) and the International Society of Dermatology (ISD). This day highlights the critical importance of skin health and emphasizes the need for increased access to dermatological care, particularly in underserved regions where billions live without access to specialists. This year, CeraVe, recognized as the foremost dermatologist-recommended skincare brand in the U.S., took monumental steps in this mission, engaging more than 3,900 patients globally through various initiatives.

Understanding the Crisis in Skin Health

The statistics paint a stark picture: roughly one-third of the global population suffers from skin diseases. Alarmingly, in many countries, there's fewer than one dermatologist for every million people. This significant shortage leads to approximately 3 billion individuals lacking access to essential dermatological care. Recognizing this gap, CeraVe partnered with ILDS and ISD to help bridge it and ensure that patients worldwide can access proper skin health services.

In 2024, the campaign attracted participation from organizations and individuals across 76 countries, all eager to spread the message of skin health awareness. The efforts resonated deeply, achieving a reach of over 4.5 million people through social media sharing and in-person activities. As part of these initiatives, a global celebration was held during CeraVe's 20th Anniversary, further amplifying ongoing discussions around accessible dermatological solutions.

A Global Footprint on World Skin Health Day

CeraVe's involvement extended to nine countries across five continents where pivotal events took place:
  • - Indonesia: Over 220 patients received essential dermatological treatment, while more than 60 government officials pledged support for better skin health.
  • - Nigeria: More than 1,200 patients accessed dermatological services for the very first time.
  • - Bangladesh: Mobile dermatology units traversed flood-prone regions, diagnosing and treating more than 1,000 patients.
  • - Philippines: Close to 50 dermatologists and healthcare providers treated 163 patients in remote areas and trained 136 local healthcare workers.

In the U.S., CeraVe collaborated with the National Association of Free and Charitable Clinics (NAFC), furthering the mission to spotlight skin health within neglected communities. This partnership enabled volunteer dermatologists to offer consultations at NAFC clinics, while L'Oreal Skin Health Advisors conducted educational sessions, generating a ripple effect of knowledge and care across the nation. The collaboration positively influenced hundreds of patients and motivated numerous volunteers, setting the groundwork for continued action.

Ariana Gordillo, Senior Director at NAFC, highlighted the partnership's importance, stating, "Our collaboration with CeraVe has added immense value to our clinics by broadening the care scope we can provide to patients. Access to skincare is limited both globally and domestically, so CeraVe's support helps us expand our services considerably."

Advocating for Skin Health Equity

CeraVe's initiatives fall under the CeraVe Care For All program, which aims to enhance access to dermatological care in underserved areas while empowering frontline healthcare providers. Tom Allison, Senior Vice President of Medical Dermatology Marketing at L'Oreal, endorsed the program, affirming the fundamental nature of skin health as a human right. Supporting initiatives like World Skin Health Day grants CeraVe a platform to spark crucial conversations and advocate for equity in skin health.

The events of World Skin Health Day 2025 signified another essential stride toward dismantling barriers obstructing access to dermatological care. For additional insights into CeraVe Care For All and related global initiatives, visit CeraVe's official site.
