National Truck Driver Appreciation Week 2025
From September 14 to 20, 2025, the American Trucking Associations (ATA) will celebrate the 37th annual National Truck Driver Appreciation Week (NTDAW). This week-long event is dedicated to honoring the country's nearly 3.6 million professional truck drivers who play a crucial role in keeping our economy moving.
Chris Spear, the President and CEO of ATA, emphasizes the importance of truck drivers in our daily lives. He states,
"Our reliance on truckers is absolute, and our appreciation for them should be as well. These hardworking professionals should be celebrated for their dedication that powers our economy." As this appreciation week kicks off, communities nationwide are encouraged to participate in events that recognize the incredible contributions of truck drivers.
Importance of Truck Drivers
Every day, truck drivers are responsible for delivering over 72% of the nation's freight tonnage. Their work ensures that the products we need, from food and medicine to clothing, are available and accessible. However, their contributions often go unnoticed. Therefore, NTDAW aims to raise awareness about the essential services that truck drivers provide and to encourage the public and industry leaders to appreciate their vital work.
Events and Activities
Throughout the NTDAW, various events will take place across the country to honor truck drivers. State trucking associations, industry suppliers, and motor carriers are organizing appreciation initiatives, including community gatherings and recognition ceremonies. Some highlighted activities include:
- - Kicking Off the Celebration: ATA launched the week by distributing gift baskets to drivers at the famed Iowa 80.
- - Wear Official Colors: On Monday, trucking supporters are encouraged to wear NTDAW's designated colors, burgundy and white, to show solidarity and appreciation.
- - Community Meals: On Tuesday, ATA is motivating trucking companies to host meals at their terminals for their drivers, enhancing community spirit and recognition.
- - Women In Motion Webinar: On Wednesday, a webinar featuring women members of America’s Road Team will be held, showcasing their experiences and perspectives in the trucking profession.
- - Speaking Engagement: On Thursday, America’s Road Team Captains will share their insights and experiences at an event with an audience of 60,000 at Northwood University.
In addition, ATA plans to air advertisements in stadiums during college football games across states such as Connecticut, Illinois, Louisiana, South Dakota, Tennessee, and Texas—reinforcing the message of appreciation.
Raising Awareness
Educating the public about the critical work that truck drivers perform is essential in fostering respect and understanding. Highway safety is also linked to how well the motoring public accommodates truck drivers by giving them ample space to maneuver, remaining mindful of their blind spots, and minimizing distractions.
The official NTDAW website offers a wealth of resources to assist in curating driver appreciation events and spreading awareness about the importance of the trucking profession. ATA has developed materials that industry professionals can use to engage their local communities and highlight both the challenges and the rewards of being a truck driver.
Support from Sponsors
NTDAW 2025 celebrations are made possible by sponsorship from various organizations, including ACT 1, the Allied Committee for the Trucking Industry, Intact Insurance, Custard Insurance Adjusters, and Geotab, which provide vital support in organizing events and activities.
