West Virginia Water Treatment Acknowledged for Excellence
In a remarkable achievement, the Ada Water Treatment Plant situated in Bluefield, West Virginia, has been honored with the
25-year Directors Award by the Partnership for Safe Water. This recognition underscores the plant's relentless dedication to delivering high-quality drinking water and its efforts to continuously enhance water quality.
The Partnership for Safe Water is a voluntary initiative that involves drinking water organizations aimed at assisting operators, managers, and administrators to improve performance at water treatment facilities. Nationally, there are over 400 surface water treatment plants participating in this exceptional program, which seeks to ensure that communities receive drinking water that meets or exceeds local, state, and federal standards.
The American Water Works Association (AWWA), which administers the Partnership program, announced these national awards that celebrate continuous optimization of operations in water treatment plants and distribution systems. In making this announcement,
Scott Wyman, President of West Virginia American Water, remarked, “We are proud to be recognized by the Partnership for Safe Water for our commitment to delivering safe, clean, and reliable drinking water.”
Mr. Wyman elaborated that the improvements made at the Ada Water Treatment Plant are crucial, ensuring that when residents in Bluefield turn on their taps, they can trust that their water quality not only meets but often surpasses established drinking water standards.
Jon Jarvis, the Senior Manager of Water Quality and Environmental Compliance for West Virginia American Water, highlighted the team’s dedication. “This award reflects the excellent work of our team in Bluefield, who are committed to enhancing our systems and providing high-quality drinking water to our customers,” he said. It serves as a testament to the hard work put in by the local employees who live within the community they serve.
