Karsan Aims to Rank Among Europe's Top 5 in Innovative Mobility Solutions
Karsan Aims to Join the Elite of European Mobility Market
Karsan, a prominent name in the realm of technological mobility solutions for public transport, continues to showcase its growth in the competitive European market. The company has reported an impressive 11% increase in its revenue, totaling €330 million for the fiscal year 2025. This growth is significantly attributed to Karsan's electric vehicle sales, which alone accounted for €220 million, reflecting a burgeoning interest in sustainable transportation options.
The success isn’t just limited to domestic sales; Karsan's export figures tell a compelling story of international reach. The company has seen its exports skyrocket by 43%, culminating in €197 million. Okan Baş, the CEO of Karsan, believes that their electric models like the e-JEST and e-ATAK are leading the charge in their respective segments within the European public transport landscape. He noted, “Turkey has become a central hub in Europe for bus and minibus manufacturing, and Karsan managed a staggering 80% of electric minibus and bus exports from Turkey to Europe between 2019 and 2025.”
In line with its ambitious expansion plans, Karsan has announced a strategy to launch autonomous public transport services in 2026. Focusing on becoming a key player in Europe over the next five years, the company has laid out a strategic path towards growing their fleet of electric vehicles to more than 2,800 units—equal to over a 30% increase. An essential part of this vision includes entering new markets, particularly in the Nordic region, where Karsan currently sees opportunities.
Karsan aims to establish a presence in currently untapped markets such as the Netherlands, Sweden, Norway, and Germany. As part of their plan, first steps will include a thorough organizational restructuring to facilitate effective entry into these regions. Currently, Karsan is set to solidify its operations in Spain and Poland, markets it entered last year, while also focusing on enhancing its fleet size and operational efficiency.
The innovative approach Karsan is taking also includes a strong emphasis on autonomous mobility. They have initiated development to remove the safety driver from autonomous vehicles, with intentions to start fully autonomous operations in Stavanger by the third quarter of 2026. In this fast-evolving sector, the e-ATAK autonomous bus and the e-JEST autonomous minibus present promising future developments for Karsan.
Karsan's enduring vision of “A Step Forward in the Future of Mobility” has not only positioned them as a transformative force in public transport globally but also assures their success year after year. The company has firmly established its footprint in 27 countries, boasting a fleet of over 2,100 electric vehicles and spearheading the shift towards greener public transport.
In 2025, Karsan continued its upward trend, with total revenue rising to €330 million from €296 million in 2024. This considerable revenue growth from electric vehicles alone surged by €59 million, now making up 67% of their total revenue. The notable rise in export revenues, which went up 43% to €197 million, and the increase in EBITDA from €32 million in 2024 to €54 million further exemplify Karsan's robust performance.
With a relentless drive for innovation and expansion in the electric mobility sector, Karsan is poised to not only meet but exceed its ambitious goals for growth and sustainability in the years to come.
