Nel ASA Secures Major Order for PEM Electrolyser Solutions from Prominent U.S. Tech Firm

Nel ASA Secures Major Order from Leading U.S. Technology Firm

On October 13, 2026, Nel ASA's US subsidiary, Nel Hydrogen US, landed a significant purchase order with an undisclosed, globally recognized technology company based in the United States. This deal encompasses multiple containerized Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) electrolyser units from the MC-series, as well as associated services, totaling around $12 million. The expected delivery is projected for 2027.

According to Todd Cartwright, Nel’s Chief Commercial Officer, the company is witnessing strong momentum for the MC platform, particularly among clients with demanding technical and operational requirements. "This order highlights the quality and maturity of our MC-series, reaffirming the confidence that leading technology customers place in Nel as a trusted partner," he stated.

The MC-series of electrolyzers developed by Nel is designed with modularity in mind, permitting scalable, reliable, and efficient on-site hydrogen production. The containerized format is particularly beneficial, facilitating quicker installation and integration into challenging technological environments where performance and reliability are paramount.

This order reflects a growing demand for hydrogen solutions amongst major players in various sectors, including transportation, refining, steel, and ammonia production, as the world aims for decarbonization. The PEM technology employed in the MC-series is crucial for producing renewable hydrogen, which is a cornerstone for facilitating a green hydrogen economy.

The manufacturing of these stacks is set to take place at Nel's state-of-the-art facility located in Wallingford, Connecticut. Cartwright expressed optimism about the production schedule and the capabilities of the operational team, aiming for timely delivery in line with the customer’s requirements.

Nel ASA, founded in 1927, has evolved into a leader in the hydrogen technology sector worldwide, specializing in both PEM and Alkaline electrolyzer technology. Their innovations are at the forefront of creating a sustainable hydrogen economy, aligning with global efforts to reduce carbon emissions. As nations focus on achieving climate targets, Nel's role as a catalyst for change in renewable energy production becomes increasingly vital.

This new order serves not only as a testament to the reliability of Nel's technology but also illustrates the growing acceptance and reliance on hydrogen solutions by major corporations. As industries shift towards more sustainable practices, more partnerships and contracts in the hydrogen sector are anticipated.

For additional insights or inquiries regarding this significant development, interested parties are encouraged to contact Nel's CFO, Kjell Christian Bjørnsen, or Wilhelm Flinder, Head of Investor Relations, Communications, and Marketing.

In summary, this purchase order exemplifies the robust demand for innovative hydrogen solutions and reinforces Nel ASA's status in the green technology landscape. The company remains committed to advancing its operations and contributing to a sustainable future in energy production.
