Introduction
On August 27, 2025, Touvourgins Inc., based in Chiyoda, Tokyo, will release the world's first original movie poster collection dedicated to the works of renowned director Akira Kurosawa. This eagerly awaited volume, titled "Akira Kurosawa Original Movie Poster Collection," showcases an extensive range of posters from all of his cinematic gems.
A Long-Awaited Dream Realized
For years, fans of Akira Kurosawa have dreamed of an official collection that brings together the original posters from each of his films. Thanks to the full cooperation of Kurosawa Productions and Toho, this long-awaited project is finally coming to fruition. The book will feature posters from 30 films, including his debut "Sanjuro" to his final work "Madadayo." With classics like "Rashomon," "Ikiru," "Seven Samurai," and "Throne of Blood," these posters transport viewers back to the excitement felt in theaters decades ago.
A Visual Celebration
The posters included in the collection have been reproduced in a B4 format and in full color, ensuring that the essence of each film is vividly presented. The book will also come with a special inclusion of five B4-sized posters as a bonus for collectors and fans alike.
Exciting Limited-Time Offer
In addition to the general collection, exclusive limited goodies will be available at select bookstores and online. One notable piece is a reproduction of the leaflet created during the original screening of "Sanjuro" on March 25, 1943. This two-color A4 leaflet includes insights on the film and highlights the contributions of Kurosawa as a novice director during a politically charged era. This rare promotional material, produced amid severe paper shortages during the war, will be offered as a special bonus to those purchasing from specific retailers, adding an extra layer of history and value to the collection.
