GAC's Outstanding Export Performance in 2026
In an impressive display of growth, GAC has reported a staggering 133.9% increase in its export volumes from January to April 2026 compared to the same period last year. This remarkable achievement comes on the back of a robust 86% year-on-year growth in overseas sales during the first quarter. With this momentum, GAC is accelerating its global expansion efforts through its strategic initiative, "One GAC 2.0."
From January to April, the company successfully exported 70,474 vehicles, propelling it toward its annual export target of 250,000 units, with an ambitious additional goal of reaching 300,000. The AION UT model has been at the forefront of this expansion, leading in the EV hatchback segment in regions such as Hong Kong, Colombia, Uruguay, and Singapore, while also securing significant customer interest in Australia.
Regional Growth and Market Breakthroughs
GAC's recent performance highlights its strong foothold in various international markets. During the Bangkok International Motor Show, the company received 6,287 orders, showcasing its increasing popularity in the Asia-Pacific region. Sales figures soared dramatically, with monthly sales rising by 503% in Hong Kong, 900% in Malaysia, and 338% in Indonesia. Furthermore, the AION UT was officially launched in Australia, marking a significant entry into the competitive automotive market.
In Europe, the brand has taken major steps, having introduced the AION UT at Milan and commencing local production with Magna in Austria. This development signifies GAC’s commitment to establishing a strong manufacturing base in Europe. Additionally, within just six months of its launch in Israel, the AION model has already broken into the top 10 EV sales rankings.
The Americas are also witnessing a surge in GAC's presence, particularly in Uruguay and Colombia, where sales escalated by 775% and 1,007%, respectively. GAC is enhancing its visibility through strategic sports marketing, becoming sponsors of top football clubs such as Flamengo in Brazil and Oriente Petrolero in Bolivia, further solidifying its brand impact.
Strategic Enhancements and Eco-Friendly Expansion
At the recent 139th Canton Fair, GAC secured letters of intent for over 900 vehicles, totaling around $10 million in export value. This showcases the strength of its model that combines technological advancements and a robust ecosystem. The 2026 GAC International Partners Conference saw 700 dealers from 87 countries joining forces, enhancing the brand's international sales network.
Moreover, GAC unveiled its comprehensive 2030 strategic plan at Auto China, aiming to penetrate 120 countries and establish over 2,000 overseas touchpoints. With a diverse product matrix across GAC, AION, and HYPTEC brands, the company aspires to reach an ambitious target of one million yearly units sold internationally.
As GAC transitions from focusing solely on product exports to fostering a deeply integrated global ecological framework, the company's swift movement towards its international unit sales goal reflects its dedication to sustainable and broad-ranging growth. This development underlines GAC’s vision not just as an automobile manufacturer but as a holistic ecosystem player in the global automotive sector.
