New Subscription Course Service Launch
On April 1, 2026, the Distribution Business School, managed by the Japan Distribution Economic Research Institute, will introduce a groundbreaking subscription service for corporate training programs. This initiative aims to reduce the educational burden on businesses while enhancing reskilling and practical skills in the distribution and retail sectors.
In today's rapidly evolving marketplace, manufacturers, wholesalers, and retailers need to systematically acquire specialized skills that translate into practical applications, such as improving sales proposal skills, enhancing data utilization capabilities, and refining negotiation skills. However, traditional group training methods often face logistical challenges, including scheduling conflicts and operational burdens.
Historically, the Distribution Business School has provided courses via an on-demand format, but feedback indicated that the individual application system made it difficult for organizations to design comprehensive educational investments and ensure ongoing utilization. To address these concerns, the new subscription service allows companies to access multiple courses for a flat fee, enabling systematic and continuous employee development.
The service will provide nine practical courses delivered through on-demand video formats. The curriculum draws on over 60 years of research and practical support knowledge accumulated by the institute. The focus goes beyond mere terminology comprehension; it targets practical skill acquisition that leads to tangible results in areas such as sales floor improvement, proposal accuracy, and data analysis.
Implementing this program will enable timely integration of new hires and enhance the foundational capabilities of both junior and mid-level employees. It also aims to strengthen the proposal skills of teams in sales and marketing efficiently. Furthermore, when five or more employees participate, the cost per person decreases compared to traditional on-demand learning options.
Since its inception in 2007, over 5,700 participants from manufacturers, wholesalers, retail businesses, and associations have benefited from the Distribution Business School's offerings. The instructors include research staff, university professors, and industry experts, with a remarkable 94.2% of participants rating the courses as easy to understand.
