Society of Interventional Radiology Welcomes New Leader
The Society of Interventional Radiology (SIR) is making waves in the medical community with the announcement of Eve Lee, MBA, CAE, as its new chief executive officer. Set to take office on January 27, 2025, Lee is stepping into this pivotal role during a momentous time as the organization gears up to celebrate its 50th anniversary.
Lee brings a wealth of experience to SIR, having previously served as the executive director of the American Orthotic and Prosthetic Association (AOPA). During her tenure at AOPA, she advocated for patient access to care and spearheaded initiatives focused on evidence-based practices. Her strategic collaborations and global outreach efforts positioned AOPA as a significant voice in healthcare policy.
Before her impactful role at AOPA, Lee served as the executive director for the Society for Healthcare Epidemiology of America (SHEA). It was under her stewardship that SHEA rose to prominence in the fields of infection prevention and public health policy, working closely with renowned agencies such as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
As the new CEO of SIR, Lee will be essential in advancing the organization’s advocacy, education, and policy objectives. Her mission will center around strengthening interventional radiology practices and ensuring that patients globally have access to image-guided therapies that are less invasive and often more effective than traditional options.
Eve Lee expressed her enthusiasm about joining SIR during this milestone year: "I am thrilled and honored to join SIR as it begins its 50th anniversary year. I look forward to building upon SIR's strong foundation of advocacy, education, and research to ensure greater access to interventional radiology care around the world." Her commitment is palpable as she outlines her vision for collaboration and transformation within the field.
The leadership at SIR, including President Robert J. Lewandowski, MD, FSIR, expressed their excitement about Lee's appointment. Dr. Lewandowski stated, "SIR's leadership is confident her experience as a champion of patient access to care, evidence-based medicine, and public health policy will help SIR reach new heights and make our next 50 years as transformative as the first.”
Eve Lee’s academic credentials further cement her qualifications for this role. She acquired her MBA from the University of Maryland Global Campus and holds a certificate in higher education teaching from Harvard University. Her undergraduate studies in political science were completed at Randolph-Macon College.
