DuPont Celebrates Sustainable Packaging Innovators at Tyvek® Awards 2025

DuPont's Tyvek® Sustainable Healthcare Packaging Awards 2025

In a significant event that underscored the synergy between healthcare and sustainability, DuPont proudly announced the winners of its second annual Tyvek® Sustainable Healthcare Packaging Awards during the Medical Packaging Conference held from October 6 to 8, 2025. Celebrating innovations in sustainable practices, this global awards program highlights healthcare packaging initiatives that implement DuPont’s renowned Tyvek® material.

The growing concern for environmental impact in the healthcare sector has prompted many organizations to rethink their packaging strategies. At the forefront, DuPont has taken initiative to promote excellence in sustainable healthcare packaging, and this year’s winners have set an exemplary standard. The selected innovators for 2025 are Evercare, Amcor, and B. Braun Medical, Inc. Each of them has demonstrated a strong commitment to sustainability across various stages of their packaging processes.

Evercare's Innovative Packaging Solution

Evercare introduced the Endurance R50 film, a groundbreaking medical-grade packaging that incorporates up to 50% post-consumer advanced recycling technology, produced by its sister company, Selenis. Without compromising the performance or safety that virgin materials provide, this solution dramatically reduces the reliance on fossil fuel-based plastics and is a significant step towards lowering carbon emissions, aligning with the healthcare industry's push for circular practices.

Amcor's Enhanced Heat Seal Coating

Amcor's win came from its development of the ACT2100™ heat seal coating. This next-generation product provides a stronger seal—25% more robust—and features 50% greater breathability compared to similar offerings. The enhancements translate into more efficient sterilization cycles, and improved packaging integrity, crucial for maintaining safety and reliability in demanding environments. Such advancements not only enhance operational efficiency but also improve user experience across supply chains globally.

B. Braun's Packaging Redesign

B. Braun Medical, Inc. showcased a remarkable reduction in packaging materials through a thoughtful redesign of its regional anesthesia and procedure tray packaging. By utilizing Amcor's Sureform Ultra forming film in conjunction with Tyvek® 1059B rollstock, B. Braun achieved a significant reduction of 64 metric tons of plastic, alongside 4,400 pounds of paper annually. This transition also resulted in an impressive reduction of CO₂ emissions by 198 metric tons each year—taking the company's efforts closer to their ambitious goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 50% by 2030.

David Domnisch, DuPont’s Vice President and General Manager for Tyvek®, expressed his enthusiasm for the award-winning initiatives. He stated, “These initiatives are a testament to the healthcare packaging industry's meaningful strides towards sustainable innovation.”

The Tyvek® Sustainable Healthcare Packaging Awards not only recognize these leaders but also encourage a collective movement towards a greener future in healthcare packaging. The program reflects DuPont’s commitment to supporting their partners in achieving ambitious sustainability targets while ensuring product and patient safety.

Organizations in the healthcare space aiming to make a change can look forward to the next application window, set to open in May 2026. As the healthcare sector evolves, these sustainable practices are increasingly vital to reducing the environmental footprint and aligning with global sustainability goals, making efforts like those of DuPont and its partners particularly noteworthy.
