Brookdale Senior Living Appoints Nick Stengle as New CEO
On October 2, 2025, Brookdale Senior Living Inc. (NYSE: BKD) announced the appointment of Nick Stengle as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO), effective October 6, 2025. Stengle takes over from Denise W. Warren, who has been serving as Interim CEO since April 2025 and will return to her role as Non-Executive Chairman of the Board.
A Search for Leadership
This transition comes after a comprehensive search by the Brookdale Board's Search Committee, aimed at finding a candidate who could navigate the company through a pivotal moment in its history. Stengle comes with a wealth of experience in the senior living, healthcare, and hospitality sectors, an asset that positions him well to lead Brookdale into its next phase.
Before joining Brookdale, Stengle held the role of President and Chief Operating Officer at Gentiva, a prominent provider of hospice, palliative, and home health services with a workforce of over 12,000 across approximately 550 locations in 38 states. Prior to his tenure at Gentiva, he also made significant contributions as the Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for Sunrise Senior Living. There, he managed operations, sales, marketing, and clinical functions for approximately 250 communities serving over 20,000 residents.
A Military Background
Stengle’s leadership background is complemented by an extensive military career in the United States Air Force. Serving as a Top Gun Instructor Pilot and Combat Fighter Pilot, he developed a disciplined and mission-driven leadership approach. His military experience emphasizes teamwork, a trait that will be vital as he leads Brookdale's diverse workforce and resident community.
