Unveiling the Sixth Peko-chan Shogi Lesson Event
In an exciting announcement, Fujiyama Co., Ltd and the Japan Shogi Federation will host the sixth installment of the beloved event, "Peko-chan's First Shogi Lesson," on
August 23, 2025. This unique collaboration, which commenced in 2019, has gained significant popularity, with five successful previous events. With the participation of professional shogi players, this year's event promises to be another memorable experience for families and children alike.
Event Details
The event will take place at the Fujiyama headquarters in Bunkyo City, Tokyo, across three separate sessions:
- - First Session: 10:00 AM - 11:30 AM
- - Second Session: 12:30 PM - 2:00 PM
- - Third Session: 3:00 PM - 4:30 PM
Each session will accommodate 16 pairs of participants, making a total of
96 participants overall. The target audience for this shogi lesson is children aged between
5 to 8 years old who are just starting to dive into the world of shogi, along with their guardians.
A Day of Shogi Learning and Fun
Children will be introduced to the basics of shogi in a comprehensive and engaging manner. Led by esteemed shogi professionals such as
Hidetsugu Muranaka (7-dan),
Aya Fujita (women's 2-dan),
Minami Sadamasu (women's 2-dan), and
Aki Wada (women's 2-dan), participants will first receive instruction on how to properly set up the shogi pieces and understand the basic rules. The sessions will culminate with friendly matches between children and their guardians, offering hands-on experience.
The event will also feature a special photo opportunity with Peko-chan and surprise giveaways, including custom-designed shogi pieces, a unique paper shogi board featuring Peko-chan, and a lovely assortment of Fujiyama’s treats.

July 19, 2025, starting at
10:00 AM until
August 3, 2025, at
10:00 PM. Please note that due to high demand, a lottery may be conducted if the number of applicants exceeds availability.
