Nitto Towel Company Inc., located in Nihonbashi, Tokyo, has announced the opening of its educational facility, the "Towel School," which is set to begin on April 29, 2026. The school embodies the philosophy that "a towel is like a letter," aiming to convey emotions through a simple touch. As part of the opening festivities, the company will host "Nitto Fest 2026" on April 28 (Tuesday) and April 29 (Wednesday), featuring a variety of events including guest discussions and engaging workshops.

The Towel School is designed as a platform for reflection in our fast-paced society, encouraging an appreciation for the value of time and 'careful moments'. Classes and Special Sessions



To inaugurate the Towel School, the company has curated a lineup of interesting discussions and activities with various guests. The sessions will be moderated by Takahiro Toriyama, who will frame each topic as an engaging conversation. Attendees can expect a lively atmosphere with ample opportunities for interaction, including Q&A sessions at the end of each class.

It's important to reserve your spot early, as these sessions feature popular speakers and have limited seating.

DAY 1: April 28 (Tuesday) - 12:00 to 17:30

  • - 1st Class: "What Inspired the Establishment of the Towel School?" (12:30 - 13:30)

Featuring Akiko Yoshimitsu, CEO of Senju Publishing, and Takahiro Toriyama. Reservation required.

  • - 2nd Class: "The Recommendations of Towels—with Behind-the-Scenes Stories" (14:00 - 15:00)

Featuring Masayuki Sakamoto, CEO of Hotman, and Sayoko Fujitaka, Director of Fujitaka. Reservation required.

  • - Music Performance: "Concert by Young Violinist Riona Amemiya" (16:00 - 16:15) Reservation required.

DAY 2: April 29 (Wednesday) - 10:00 to 17:30

  • - 3rd Class: "Exploring the Yellow Building with Architects" (10:30 - 11:30) Reservation required.

  • - Special Class: "Public Planning Meeting for Creating Gentle Writing Tools with Students" (12:30 - 13:30) Reservation required.

  • - 5th Class: "Survival Strategies from a Long-Established Wholesaler" (14:30 - 15:30) Reservation required.

Pre-registration for these classes can be made via Peatix, with limited seating available.

Workshops


In addition to the scheduled classes, several hands-on workshops will take place during Nitto Fest:
  • - "A Towel is Like a Letter" Workshop (April 28-29, limited to first 4 participants per session). Participants will create customized envelopes and write letters to their future selves using towels as a medium, fostering a unique and memorable way to convey personal thoughts. The cost is 1,000 yen, but registration via LINE offers free participation.
  • - Stencil Art and Letterpress Printing Workshop (April 28-29, limited to first 4 participants). Attendees can decorate towel handkerchiefs and print letters using vintage printing techniques. This popular workshop is suitable for all ages, and the fee is 500 yen.
