Cultivating Future Engineers: Kato Works Joins D-SciTech Program Workshop

On June 21, 2025, Kato Works, led by President Kato Kimiyasu, will take part in the D-SciTech Program, a workshop designed for elementary school students. This event will be held at the Tokyo Denki University, Tokyo Senju Campus.

Overview of the Program

Now in its third year, the D-SciTech Program aims to spark interest in science and technology among young minds. The workshop focuses on hands-on activities, allowing children to explore scientific principles through experiments and practical work. Kato Works has chosen hydraulics as the theme for this year. By providing engaging displays and interactive experiences, the company intends to make the wonders of hydraulic technology accessible to children.

Hydraulics is a vital technology used in various industrial machinery, including construction equipment. The mechanism of transforming small forces into large ones is particularly suitable for science education, as it unveils the practical applications of physics in everyday life.

In addition to theoretical understanding, the workshop will feature actual cranes and mini-excavators, giving children a rare chance to engage with construction machinery firsthand. This tactile experience aims to impress upon the young participants the significance of such equipment in supporting society, while also igniting their curiosity about engineering and innovation.

Kato Works believes that by collaborating with educational institutions through programs like D-SciTech, it can contribute to the development of future engineers. The company is committed to nurturing STEM talent and considers this initiative a crucial part of its broader business strategy.
