Leading High-Performance Teams: A Transformative Leadership Course at Nagoya Business School

The Nagoya Business School has partnered with Nikkei Business School to launch an innovative leadership program titled "Leading High-Performance Teams" (LHPT), entirely conducted in English. This course aims to cultivate transformational leadership skills in participants, preparing them to lead high-performance teams effectively.

The LHPT program is set to take place annually, and the 2025 edition is scheduled for an immersive four-day on-site session from November 6 to November 9, followed by a reflective class on January 23, 2026, both held at the Nagoya Marunouchi Tower. This program utilizes the MBA-style case method from Nagoya Business School, encouraging participants from different countries to engage in discussions and exchanges of ideas, sharpening their perspectives on leadership.

In 2025, the program is expected to host 51 participants consisting of 26 Japanese nationals and 25 international representatives from 13 different countries. Through collaborative classroom discussions, these individuals will tackle new business challenges, working towards innovative solutions that draw from their diverse backgrounds.

A highlight of the 2025 LHPT will be a session led by Professor Ralf Boscheck, a newly appointed faculty member from IMD Business School in Switzerland. His session will focus on the leadership challenges arising from international complexities and the responsibilities organizations face when addressing common societal issues. This group discussion will not only enhance knowledge sharing, but also help participants develop practical insights into global business leadership.

To conclude the English course, a reflective day is scheduled on January 23, 2026. Participants will engage in class discussions about how they have been able to apply what they learned during the intensive sessions, including case studies such as "M-KOPA Solar: Using Digital Disruption to Connect the World's Poor". They will share their experiences, reflecting on how the concepts from the training have been integrated into their professional lives.

After the classes, a networking event will be organized to strengthen the relationships among participants. This social gathering allows for deeper connections beyond the formal classroom setting, promoting collaboration and future opportunities.

Looking ahead, the 2026 edition of LHPT is confirmed to run from November 5 to November 7, once again at the Nagoya campus, continuing the tradition of immersive learning cycles designed to foster the next generation of globally-minded leaders.

The Nagoya Business School provides a range of practical management education programs aimed at working professionals, offering MBA degrees in both Japanese and English, as well as tax accountant training courses. Recognized as the only institution in Japan to achieve all three major international accreditations (AACSB, AMBA, EQUIS), it is a triple-crown school that offers world-class management education across Tokyo, Osaka, and Nagoya. As a full member of PIM, an association of the world's leading business schools, it has received significant recognition in global rankings by QS, placing first domestically in EMBA, MBA, and MiM categories.

The commitment of Nagoya Business School to nurturing future leaders is unwavering, and initiatives like LHPT play a significant role in equipping participants with the skills needed to thrive in an increasingly globalized business environment.
