Royal Canin Promotes Pet Adoption by Waiving Fees in NYC During Shelter Appreciation Week

Royal Canin Waives Adoption Fees at NYC Animal Care Centers for National Animal Shelter Appreciation Week

In a heartfelt initiative aimed at promoting animal welfare, Royal Canin has announced they will cover adoption fees for cats and dogs at Animal Care Centers (ACC) in New York City. This initiative coincides with National Animal Shelter Appreciation Week, which runs from November 2nd to November 8th.

Royal Canin, a frontrunner in the realm of pet nutrition and a prominent brand under Mars, Incorporated, is not only contributing to the cost of bringing a new furry friend home but is also providing a month’s supply of nutritious food to each adopter. This generous gesture reinforces its commitment to fostering a healthier world for pets.

As the largest animal shelter in New York City, the ACC operates full-service facilities in Manhattan, Queens, and Staten Island, housing over 500 animals currently ready for adoption. The need for adopters is critical, especially given the recent statistics indicating that more than 2.8 million pets entered shelters across the United States through June of this year.

In the preceding year alone, ACC cared for over 15,000 animals, successfully achieving a commendable 91% overall placement rate. This partnership with Royal Canin emphasizes a shared vision of enhancing the lives of pets not only through finding them loving homes but also ensuring they receive the nutrition they require.

Don MacIntosh, vice president of Royal Canin's Professional Division, expressed the brand's admiration for the significant role that organizations like ACC play in the community. He stated, "We deeply value the vital work animal shelters like ACC of NYC do every day to care for cats and dogs in need. Our partnership is about more than waiving adoption fees; it’s about ensuring every pet is provided with tailored nutrition."

ACC’s President and CEO, Risa Weinstock, also commented on the importance of this collaboration. "We’re grateful for Royal Canin’s continued partnership and commitment to the wellbeing of the animals in our care. Their support not only ensures pets at ACC receive quality nutrition, but it also amplifies our shared goal of ending animal homelessness in New York City. This initiative provides more pets the opportunity to find their forever homes."

The timing of this initiative is critical, as National Animal Shelter Appreciation Week presents an ideal opportunity for potential adopters to consider bringing a pet into their lives. Royal Canin's approach ensures that new pet owners start on the right foot, with the necessary resources and information to create a healthy environment for their newly adopted companions.

Prospective adopters should note that this offer allows for one fee redemption per household, applicable to dogs and cats aged six months or older, with a maximum adoption fee of $250. This offer is valid for in-person adoptions made between November 2nd and November 8th or until adoption fees reach a total of $10,000. Additional fees related to dog or cat licensing or surgeries are not included in this promotion.

Animal Care Centers of NYC was established in 1995 as a non-profit organization with a mission to eradicate animal homelessness in New York City. As an open-admission shelter, ACC provides a safe haven for thousands of animals that are abandoned, neglected, or in need of a new home, regardless of their age or medical history. Their dedicated team of staff and volunteers works tirelessly to offer not just adoptions but also fostering, veterinary care, and community outreach, all rooted in the principles of compassion and respect for living creatures.
