Celebrating Virginia's Wine Heritage with Cornus Virginicus IV
The King Family Vineyards proudly announced the launch of
Cornus Virginicus IV, an exceptional wine honoring the essence of Virginia's winemaking and agriculture. Launched in collaboration with Suzanne S. Youngkin, the First Lady of Virginia, this edition emphasizes community support while showcasing the artistry and excellence of Virginia winemakers.
Honoring Winemaking Excellence
This special wine project has been a significant initiative since its inception, and with the release of Cornus Virginicus IV, it continues to celebrate the state's rich winemaking heritage. The project not only highlights Virginia's beautiful landscapes and agricultural traditions but also emphasizes supporting educational and therapeutic programs in the community. The donation from the Cornus Virginicus IV proceeds will benefit
Wheatland Farm's Faith and Family Foundation, which provides therapeutic equestrian programs for people with disabilities.
James King, a representative of King Family Vineyards, expressed pride in contributing to a project that not only celebrates Virginia's wine culture but also benefits the community. ‘As the home of Roseland Polo, our connection to equestrian traditions enhances the significance of supporting Wheatland Farm’s programs,' he noted.
A Distinct Blend Crafted by Experts
Cornus Virginicus IV features a meticulously crafted blend:
53% Petit Verdot, 30% Merlot, 16% Cabernet Franc, and 1% Malbec, with a limited production of 125 cases. Winemaker Matthieu Finot, who received the Virginia Governor's Cup in 2024, was selected to create this unique blend following careful reviews by a tasting panel that included the First Lady. The wine's profile and richness marks it as a perfect embodiment of Virginia's terroir.
Additionally, Cornus Virginicus has a distinctive place at the Executive Mansion in Richmond, where it’s served during special occasions, which highlights not only the wine's quality but its role in representing Virginia’s hospitality and tradition.
Virginia Wine Month Celebration
The launch of Cornus Virginicus IV coincides with the
37th annual Virginia Wine Month, which celebrates the achievements of an industry that encompasses over
300 wineries and more than 5000 acres of vineyards. Virginia's wine sector plays a vital role in the state’s economy, contributing
$1.73 billion and supporting over
10,000 jobs. The 2025 release endeavors to further elevate Virginia’s wines and brings attention to the beautiful dogwood—Virginia’s official state flower—featured prominently in the wine’s branding and packaging.
Previous editions of Cornus Virginicus have already helped numerous organizations, donating over
$28,500 to local causes like the Virginia FFA Foundation and Virginia 4-H. These contributions underscore the longstanding commitment to fostering community growth and supporting youth education.

Cornus Virginicus IV is available for purchase through the Virginia Alcoholic Beverage Control Authority (ABC) and at King Family Vineyards in Crozet, Virginia. Consumers can choose to pick up their wine at designated ABC stores or have it shipped directly from King Family Vineyards.
