XCMG Unveils the Hanjing: A New Era in Long-Distance Freight Transportation

XCMG Unveils Hanjing: The Future of Heavy-Duty Transportation

On September 20, 2026, XCMG, a leading manufacturer in construction machinery, introduced its latest innovation, the Hanjing—a new generation heavy-duty truck optimized for long-distance goods transportation. This state-of-the-art vehicle responds directly to the pressing needs of logistics operators, effectively addressing key considerations such as range, charging speed, availability, and overall operational efficiency throughout its life cycle.

Development Driven by Industry Needs

The development of the Hanjing truck began back in 2023 when XCMG's team engaged with major freight hubs and collaborated closely with significant logistics companies. The goal was to understand their requirements regarding range, charging capabilities, efficiency, and reliability. Armed with this invaluable feedback, the engineers focused on optimizing critical components such as the electric powertrain, centralized thermal management, torque distribution, and regenerative braking to suit real-world long-distance operations.

Features that Stand Out

Designed for high performance, the Hanjing integrates a low-drag aerodynamic cab and a proprietary integrated electric drive axle. Intelligent controls have been introduced to minimize energy consumption, while the architecture operates at 800 volts, allowing for rapid charging capabilities that can boost the battery from 20% to 80% in under 20 minutes.

The vehicle's body is crafted from 1,500 MPa hot-pressed steel, supplemented by multiple thermal protection systems for enhanced vehicle and battery safety. A central domain controller, highway driving assistance, and a digital cockpit are further features aiming to simplify the driving experience over long trips.

Rigorous Testing and Performance

Prior to its launch, the Hanjing underwent rigorous testing across various extreme conditions, including severe heat, extreme cold, high altitudes, and water crossings. It successfully completed a demanding endurance test over 24 hours at the Yancheng test circuit, covering an impressive distance of 2,198 kilometers while carrying a gross weight of 49 tons. This performance showcases its capability to handle challenging operating environments, long distances, and heavy loads with ease.

Comprehensive Solutions for Fleet Management

In addition to the truck, XCMG offers integrated charging infrastructure, connected fleet management, and lifecycle services. This holistic approach provides operators with a cohesive system for vehicle management, charging, and daily operations. A dedicated connected vehicle platform enables fleet managers to monitor the condition and energy consumption of their vehicles while facilitating route-based vehicle selection and charging scheduling.

From January to July of 2026, XCMG achieved a leading position in China regarding new energy heavy truck and tractor sales. For three consecutive years, the company has topped national sales figures for new energy heavy trucks. Besides its domestic success, XCMG's trucks are also marketed in locations such as Indonesia, Thailand, Guinea, and other African markets. An Indonesian mining client has recently placed an order for an additional 100 units after purchasing over 150 battery-powered 8×4 dump trucks, each with a 600 kWh capacity.

As part of its commitment to innovation, XCMG showcased new energy utility vehicles and transportation solutions tailored for the construction and logistics sectors at the IAA Transportation 2026 in Hanover, Germany. The company plans to continue adapting its products to meet local regulations, road conditions, and operational practices—extending the adoption of new energy heavy trucks beyond fixed routes and short-distance transport to a wider range of long-distance applications.

With the launch of Hanjing, XCMG not only reaffirms its leadership in the heavy-duty truck market but also showcases its ongoing dedication to enhancing mobility through innovative, sustainable transport solutions. This marks a significant milestone in the transition to greener logistics and a step forward in the development of smart transportation systems globally.
