Performance Brokerage Services Facilitates the Sale of Dick Smith Hyundai in South Carolina

Performance Brokerage Services Facilitates New Ownership of Dick Smith Hyundai

Performance Brokerage Services, renowned as North America’s top dealership brokerage firm, has proudly announced the transaction involving the sale of Dick Smith Hyundai, situated in Greenville, South Carolina. The dealership has been acquired from Brian Smith of Dick Smith Automotive by Charlie Tomm of Pablo River Partners, marking a considerable shift in local automotive dynamics.

Founded over six decades ago by Dick Smith Jr., a notable automotive dealer originally from Columbia, South Carolina, Dick Smith Automotive has established a robust dealership group. This portfolio includes five dealerships across the state, representing prominent automotive brands such as Ford, Infiniti, and Nissan.

Reflecting on this significant transaction, Brian Smith, the son of the late Dick Smith Jr. and President of Dick Smith Automotive, expressed high regard for the services rendered by Weldon Mann of Performance Brokerage Services. He emphasized that Mann’s extensive experience, foresight regarding potential challenges, and organized approach created a seamless process. Smith shared, “I was extremely pleased with his professionalism and highly recommend Weldon to anyone considering the sale of their dealership.”

In the past five years alone, Performance Brokerage Services has facilitated the sale of nearly 400 dealerships, earning its place as the most active dealership brokerage firm in North America. The sale of Dick Smith Hyundai was guided by Weldon Mann and George C. Chaconas, Senior Partner and Southeast Office Partner of the firm, who served as exclusive sell-side advisors.

Mann remarked on the successful conclusion of this deal, stating, “I was honored to represent Brian Smith in selling Dick Smith Hyundai to Charlie Tomm. A successful transaction is one where both parties feel they've achieved a fair result, and this case exemplifies that notion.” Meanwhile, Chaconas underscored the privilege of working alongside Mann, whose dedication was pivotal throughout the selling process.

Pablo River Partners, a Jacksonville, Florida-based investment firm, is continuing to expand its footprint within the automotive sector. Charlie Tomm, who serves as the firm’s Chairman and CEO, has previously held significant roles in various automotive groups. Earlier this year, he acquired Mayberry Hyundai in North Carolina, and the addition of Dick Smith Hyundai enhances his portfolio in the Southeast market. Tomm highlighted the positive experience of cooperating with Mann, noting Mann’s clear communication and thorough industry knowledge as key elements that facilitated a smooth and confident transaction.

In a strategic rebranding move, Dick Smith Hyundai will be renamed Hyundai of Greenville and will maintain its existing operational location.
