Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month at The Morton Arboretum

A Festive Celebration

One of the main attractions will be the Celebración de los Árboles (Celebration of Trees) festival, running on the weekends of September 26 and 27. This two-day extravaganza is set to transform the lovely grounds of the Arboretum into a lively hub of Latin American culture. From 9 AM to 4 PM, attendees can partake in an assortment of traditional music, dance, and culinary delights. Highlighted events include colorful Lucha Libre wrestling matches, which will culminate in a thrilling championship showdown and meet-and-greet opportunities with the wrestlers themselves.

Families can also enjoy Spanish-language tram rides, lively mariachi bands, delectable food trucks, and artisan vendors showcasing handmade crafts. Admission to Celebración de los Árboles is included in the general entry fee to the Arboretum, making it easier for families to immerse themselves in the festivities.

Additional programming includes Spanish-language Forest Therapy Walks, for those interested in integrating nature with wellness practices, led by certified guides.

As the month nears its end, families can anticipate engaging in traditional games during Family Lotería events and a special adult-oriented Lotería Night on October 11. These events offer attendees the chance to experience the traditional Mexican card game with custom Arboretum-themed cards.
