Baluko Laundry Place Enhances Comfort with Renewed Down Comforter Washing Service

Baluko Laundry Place Unveils Enhanced Down Comforter Course

The Baluko Laundry Place, managed by OKULAB Co., Ltd., is revolutionizing the laundering of down comforters with its renewed service, aimed at providing a high-quality washing experience. This new course will begin on April 10, 2026, across 276 stores nationwide, streamlining the way customers can freshen their bedding.

Since 2020, Baluko Laundry Place has been offering a specialized course for down comforters, ensuring a convenient and effective laundry process. With the latest update, the course content has been revitalized to enhance the quality of finish even further. The renewed service aims to preserve the inherent lightness and fluffiness of the down comforters by having qualified staff, certified in laundering, rethink the entire washing process from cleaning to rinsing.

Optimized Washing Process for a Fluffier Finish

The newly designed down comforter course implements a two-step washing method that treats the outer and inner layers of the comforter separately. Initially, Baluko's proprietary detergent, peu, is employed to tackle dirt such as sweat and oils on the exterior of the comforter. Following this, three water changes during the rinse ensure that dust and mites are effectively eliminated from inside the comforter.

For the final stage, a peu fabric softener is used, which is uncolored and unscented, based on a formulation with biodegradable plant-based surfactants. This ensures that no unnecessary residue remains on the fibers or down after washing. Following the cleaning, the comforters are spun with care to minimize damage and then dried for 35 minutes. The substantial water usage helps reduce detergent residues, resulting in a lighter and airier finish. After using this course, an additional drying session (approx. 20 minutes) is recommended, which leverages a larger-drum dryer to achieve optimal fluffiness and also helps control dust mites and bacteria with heated air at about 65 degrees Celsius.

Baluko Laundry Place is designed to create a welcoming and aesthetically pleasing environment equipped with the latest laundry technology, all aimed at making laundry a more enjoyable routine. They offer a standard course using the specially developed peu detergent and fabric softener, along with a variety of tailored courses based on fabric types and personal preferences regarding drying temperatures.

OKULAB has been pivotal in reshaping laundry culture, offering a fulfilling lifestyle through their services. Since their launch in 2016, they have managed approximately 300 coin laundry locations, including Baluko Laundry Place and partner brands. Despite the high domestic washing machine ownership in Japan, a growing demand for professional-grade washing solutions and reduced household burdens drives the increased relevance of coin laundries in today’s society. OKULAB continues to investigate better laundry practices, striving to deliver services that satisfy and delight their customers nationwide.
