GridUnity Recognized as Clean Energy Company of the Year in 2026

GridUnity Named Clean Energy Company of the Year

On October 13, 2026, GridUnity®, a leading developer of grid interconnection and planning software, was awarded the title of Clean Energy Company of the Year during the prestigious Energy Leadership Gala. The event was organized by the Alliance for Climate Transition (ACT) at the Boston Museum of Science, honoring companies that have made substantial contributions to the advancement of clean energy.

GridUnity's journey began in 2007, emerging from ACT's Clean Energy Fellowship program aimed at empowering entrepreneurs. CEO Brian Fitzsimons, a member of the inaugural fellowship cohort, expressed pride in the progression from a mere idea to a frontrunner in the clean energy sector. Today, GridUnity supports more than 60% of electricity consumers within the U.S., significantly enhancing the efficiency of energy connections.

Keith Laska, the Chief Growth Officer, emphasized the company's mission stating, "Our mission is simple: to expedite and simplify the connection of new energy generation and large energy loads to the grid." He further highlighted the vast opportunities this progress brings not only to the energy industry but also to economic growth and future energy solutions.

The innovative GridUnity platform manages the entirety of generation and load interconnection, integrating both transmission and distribution processes. Notably, its unique AI-driven solution, known as GALE AI, allows various stakeholders to access and collaborate on the same physics-based data model. This state-of-the-art approach fundamentally transforms the dynamics of planning, decision-making, and collaboration within the interconnection lifecycle, promoting a more transparent and efficient process.

Currently, the platform is utilized by a significant number of U.S. Independent System Operators (ISOs) and Regional Transmission Organizations (RTOs). Moreover, it is being adopted by over 70 utilities and transmission owners, including major names like Pacific Gas and Electric (PGE), Southern California Edison, and Xcel Energy. This widespread usage reflects GridUnity's commitment to revolutionizing energy infrastructure.

As regulatory bodies like the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and various state utility commissions push for more efficient energy solutions, there is a growing demand for effective compliance tools. To meet this increasing need, GridUnity has announced a substantial investment of $100 million, aimed at accelerating platform development, bolstered by a matching $45 million grant from the U.S. Department of Energy.

Fitzsimons noted the significance of the award, stating, "This recognition is an important milestone, especially coming from ACT, which has been instrumental in supporting GridUnity throughout our development. Credit goes to our dedicated team, our customers, and partners, who are all integral to realizing our vision. We anticipate even greater achievements ahead."
