Natural Grocers and Rodale Institute Join Forces for Earth Month to Promote Sustainable Agriculture in 2026

Celebrating Earth Month with Ladybug Love Campaign

April is more than just a month in the calendar; it’s a time when communities come together to honor our planet and take action towards a sustainable future. In a noteworthy collaboration, Natural Grocers and the Rodale Institute have launched their annual Ladybug Love campaign this Earth Month, running from April 1 to April 30, 2026. This initiative focuses on raising awareness about the importance of beneficial insects and their critical role in organic agriculture.

The Purpose Behind Ladybug Love

The Ladybug Love campaign is deeply rooted in Natural Grocers' commitment to organic practices, regenerative agriculture, and environmental stewardship. It serves as an invitation for communities to come forward and protect beneficial insects like ladybugs, fundamental allies in maintaining healthy ecosystems.

Raquel Isely, Vice President of Marketing at Natural Grocers, expressed the campaign’s philosophy by stating, “The Ladybug Love campaign highlights the essential role beneficial insects play in building healthy soil, resilient farms, and a more sustainable food system.” Through this campaign, the two organizations aim to galvanize support for regenerative organic agriculture, ensuring that future generations of farmers are equipped with the knowledge and skills needed for sustainable practices.

Fundraising Efforts Benefiting Farmer Training Programs

The campaign also incorporates fundraising efforts specifically aimed at supporting the Rodale Institute's Farmer Training Programs. These immersive solutions prepare farmers for careers in regenerative organic crop and vegetable production by enhancing their skills in organic practices and promoting soil health. The goal for this year’s Earth Month fundraising efforts is to raise $100,000 to aid these essential training programs.

How to Contribute

There are various ways for customers to participate and contribute during this campaign:

1. Ladybug Love Pledge: Customers can take or renew their pledge online, committing to refrain from using harmful chemicals in their homes and gardens, thus protecting ladybugs and other beneficial insects. Every pledge signed from April 1 to April 30 will trigger a $1 donation from Natural Grocers to the Rodale Institute, with the company matching up to $25,000.

2. Register Donations: Customers can donate any amount, whether $1, $5, or $10, at checkout, further supporting the Farmer Training Programs throughout April.

3. Limited-Edition Merchandise: With every sale of the Ladybug Zip Pouch during this month, an additional $2 will be donated by Natural Grocers to the initiative.

4. Exclusive Rewards for {N}power Members: Members who renew their pledge from April 1 to April 15 will benefit from $5 off their purchase between April 22 and April 24. Additionally, they will receive a special reusable Earth Day-themed bag and sticker with their purchase.

Exciting Opportunities for Customers

As part of the campaign, customers are also invited to participate in the Count the Ladybugs Sweepstakes until April 25. By finding ladybugs hidden in the pages of the good4u® Health Hotline® magazine, readers can enter to win a $500 gift card for Natural Grocers.

Beyond the pledges and donations, Natural Grocers will be celebrating Earth Month by sharing insights on regenerative living, encouraging smart choices in terms of food, gardening, and home management. This engagement will culminate in a three-day Earth Day event from April 22 to 24, featuring special deals, giveaways, and educational resources focused on regenerative practices.

A Commitment to Sustainable Farming

Since its founding in 1955, Natural Grocers has prided itself on maintaining strict quality guidelines for its products, which excludes artificial preservatives and guarantees 100% USDA-certified organic produce. With 169 stores across 21 states, Natural Grocers not only emphasizes the importance of healthy food, but is also committed to community responsibility and environmental sustainability.

The Rodale Institute plays a complementary role in this initiative as a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the regenerative organic agriculture movement. Their efforts include extensive research and robust farmer training programs that have illustrated how organic farming is not just a viable alternative, but essential for humanity’s future.

As Earth Month unfolds, the Ladybug Love campaign symbolizes a collective effort to nurture our planet and foster sustainable agricultural practices that will leave a healthier world for future generations. By joining in on these actions, consumers can take a stand for the planet, support local farmers, and become stewards of their environments.
