Rion Donates Benches Made from Thinned Wood to Public Sectors in Kunitachi City

Rion's Contribution to Kunitachi City

Rion Corporation, based in Kunitachi City, Tokyo, has made a significant donation of 19 benches constructed from thinned wood, which were originally used at the Osaka-Kansai Expo. This initiative aims to promote sustainable practices and enhance community spaces within Kunitachi City. The donation includes 10 benches for various elementary schools, six benches for the Kunitachi City Hall, and three for Rion Hall, marking a notable commitment to local engagement in the community.

On February 3, a donation ceremony took place at the Kunitachi City Hall, where Rion's President, Koiki Kato, presented these benches to Mayor Teppei Maruyama. This collaboration forms part of Rion’s participation in the Expo's Co-Design Challenge program, where the company was involved in a project to utilize unused thinned wood to provide much-needed seating arrangements for visitors at the Expo.

By offering comfortable and environmentally sustainable seating options at the Expo venue, Rion contributed not only to the aesthetics but also to the functional comfort of the visitors, aligning with the Expo's theme of "Designing a Future Society Where Life Shines." The event showcased the potential of utilizing environmental resources effectively and served as an inspiration for sustainable urban planning.

The benches donated are expected to serve as more than just functional seating. They will provide spaces for rest and interaction, allowing community members to connect and reflect on the vibrant atmosphere of the Expo. Rion hopes that these benches will continue to evoke the excitement and energy of the event while contributing to a sustainable future.

In addition to this donation, Rion is committed to fostering community ties and enhancing the living environment through various initiatives. Their ongoing efforts focus on creating a safer and more prosperous community for all, ensuring that the benefits of the Expo's innovations reach beyond the event itself.

The benches, distributed across local schools, the city hall, and Rion Hall, symbolize the company’s commitment to sustainability and community support. Schools now have an opportunity to utilize these benches for educational purposes, such as facilitating outdoor learning experiences, encouraging student engagement, and creating inviting spaces for collaboration.

Future Endeavors
Rion plans to continue these community-focused projects in Kunitachi City, seeking active participation in initiatives that promote sustainability and local engagement. They understand the importance of working closely with local residents and authorities to foster a vibrant community. Rion’s commitment to leveraging environmental resources for community benefits showcases their dedication to building a harmonious relationship with the environment and society.

This collaboration also highlights the positive impact corporate responsibility can have on communities. By donating these benches, Rion not only enhances public spaces but also stimulates community involvement and encourages people to cherish shared resources. Such initiatives are crucial in paving the way for a sustainable society, where the environment and community thrive hand in hand.
