Power Metallic Mines Hits Significant Depth in Lion Drill Program with High Copper Grades
Power Metallic Mines Inc. Unveils Remarkable Drill Results at Lion
Recently, Power Metallic Mines Inc. announced significant advancements in their drilling program at the Lion deposit, part of their larger Nisk project in Canada. With the release of the first assays from their Summer 2026 drill program, the company is demonstrating a strong commitment to exploring the copper and platinum group elements potential of the area.
Located in Ontario, Power Metallic has focused its summer drilling on both enhancing the density of drill intercepts and extending deeper into the Lion deposit, which has previously shown high-grade ore. The latest results from Hole PML-26-125 mark the deepest assays accomplished at Lion to date, reaching approximately 800 meters below the surface, well beneath earlier defined models. This hole revealed an intersect of 5.70 meters with an impressive grade of 14.00% CuEqRec, which is a critical metric in determining the economic viability of the mineral deposit.
New Drill Findings
Prior to this latest drill, Hole PML-25-002 had previously marked the deepest known intersection within the Lion core, yielding 1.95 meters at 7.95% CuEqRec from a depth of around 610 meters. The recent deep exploration efforts have confirmed that mineralization not only persists at depth but potentially intensifies. The assays from PML-26-125 are noteworthy, showcasing massive to semi-massive copper sulphides, indicating a robust mineral zone that could enhance future exploration and extraction plans.
In addition, another drill hole, PML-26-121a, targeted the western edge of the deposit, reaching depths of 650 meters and also showcasing payable grades in copper sulphides. Projections from the drilling indicate that mineralization continues even deeper, with the potential for significant expansions yet to be realized.
Strategic Focus on Resource Development
Power Metallic's CEO, Terry Lynch, expressed enthusiasm regarding the latest findings. He stated that the company is in a unique position to develop a critical minerals resource, particularly focusing on copper and other valuable metals located near the surface. Lynch noted that the rich mineralization that begins at the surface makes it particularly economically viable for the company to continue drilling and exploration efforts. As the world demands more critical minerals, developments in projects like Lion underscore the importance of efficient and responsible exploration.
The current operations reflect a concerted effort to advance the project further by broadening the exploration footprint. With a promising geological framework, the team at Power Metallic will aim to grow the resource substantially by the end of 2027.
The company anticipates additional assay results from the ongoing deep drilling program and reflected on the significant potential of the regional exploration efforts. As they continue to push deeper, the excitement in the mining community mounts, noted by the recent spikes in interest spurred by successful hits in comparable projects, like those seen at Talon Metals.
Future Outlook
Besides the Lion project, Power Metallic Mines is also exploring various other high-potential regions, further strengthening its portfolio. With increased efforts focusing on geological and geophysical targets, there’s a solid chance for discovering new mineral deposits that could revolutionize the company's operations.
As an exploration company committed to responsible practices and advanced technologies, Power Metallic maintains high standards for its drilling operation, ensuring the integrity and quality of their results. Their long-term vision includes continuous evaluation of the Tiger target and expanding their exploration licenses, especially in regions recognized for their mineral potential, like Saudi Arabia.
As the mineral market continues to evolve, Power Metallic's forward-looking strategies place them at the forefront of the mining industry, effectively addressing global demand while enhancing regional economic prospects through mineral resource development. The upcoming weeks are expected to reveal more exciting discoveries that could pave the way for the future of the company and the critical minerals sector overall.
