Yamanashi Prefecture's Summer Tea Festival Bridges Urban Youth with Local Culture

Yamanashi Prefecture's Summer Tea Festival: A Bridge to Local Culture

On August 6, 2026, the vibrant MIYASHITA PARK OR in Shibuya played host to an engaging and innovative event known as the "Summer Tea Festival." Organized by CGO Dot Com and Harukiya, this festival aimed at creating a new model for connecting urban youth with the rich cultural heritage of Yamanashi Prefecture. With approximately 200 attendees encompassing students, professionals, and even seniors, the event showcased an experiential approach to local revitalization.

Event Overview

The festival, situated on the third floor of MIYASHITA PARK, featured a stunning display highlighted by a prominent torii gate adorned with the word "Yamanashi." This setting was illuminated in pink, creating an inviting atmosphere that resonated with the festival's youthful spirit.

Unique One-on-One Sessions: Real Concerns Meet Local Solutions

A standout feature of the festival was the "1-on-1 Gal Miko Consultation." Young participants lined up throughout the day to engage in open dialogues with Gal Miko hosts. This unique opportunity allowed attendees to express their concerns about relocating to Yamanashi, discussing issues ranging from living costs to career choices and even dating advice. The accessibility and relatability of the Gal Mikos effectively broke down barriers, making the consultation a hit among festival-goers.

Not only did this initiative reflect a deep understanding of urban youth’s voices, but it also embodied the mission of the "YAMANASHI Re-Connect Project," aimed at bridging connections between young people and rural areas. Through compassionate listening, the Gal Mikos successfully gathered valuable insights that will contribute to the future of Yamanashi’s community development.

Exclusive Original Beverages Captivate Attendees

The festival also featured unique original beverages collaboratively developed by Harukiya and local Yamanashi companies. Among the favorites were special drinks like “First Love Peach,” “Shimmering Muscat,” “Mt. Fuji Lemon Soda,” and “OCHA-ALE.” These refreshing options were crafted using local ingredients, encouraging young attendees to experience Yamanashi’s tea culture in a more approachable way. As people flocked to the drink counter, the vibrant flavors offered a taste of the region's culinary heritage.

Creating a Pathway from Experience to Action

The overarching goal of the Summer Tea Festival was to forge lasting connections between urban youth and Yamanashi. By facilitating an environment where participants could not only learn about the region but also envision themselves as potential residents, the festival set the stage for future engagement. Feedback from attendees hinted at a growing interest in relocation discussions, corporate partnerships, and intentions to visit Yamanashi, all pivotal for sustaining long-term relationships.

What's Next?

Building upon the success of this inaugural event, the "YAMANASHI Re-Connect Project" plans to introduce a series of follow-up initiatives. These will include additional themed events, experiential programs in Yamanashi, and strategic collaborations with various businesses, all aimed at fostering continuous interaction and engagement between city dwellers and the rural community.
