A New Era for TENTIAL: Professor Kozo Hirata Joins as Scientific Advisor

TENTIAL, a leading brand committed to promoting a health-conscious society, has recently welcomed Professor Kozo Hirata, an esteemed Honorary Professor from Kobe Women's University, as their Scientific Advisor at the TENTIAL Conditioning Institute. This strategic appointment aims to bolster TENTIAL's commitment to developing scientifically credible health products.

Professor Hirata, who holds a doctorate in medicine, has dedicated decades of research to fields such as clothing environmental physiology and thermal physiology. His expertise particularly shines in the study of arteriovenous anastomosis (AVA) vessels, crucial for human thermoregulation. Through this research, he has explored how the human body adjusts its temperature amidst fluctuating environmental conditions, especially during the sweltering heat of summer or the biting cold of winter.

The insights gained from Professor Hirata's extensive research on "Clothing and Sleep" and "Thermal Comfort" are instrumental to TENTIAL, particularly for the development of their flagship recovery wear, the "BAKUNE" series. With the growing awareness of health issues, consumers increasingly seek scientifically-backed products, making Professor Hirata’s role even more vital. By incorporating his profound knowledge of clothing physiology and thermal responses, TENTIAL aims to enhance their product designs through rigorous medical and physiological guidelines.

Throughout its history, TENTIAL has been known for providing products that enhance physical condition through functional features. With the guidance of Professor Hirata, the company is set to further intensify its research and development efforts. This includes validating the efficacy of their products and seeking collaborative research ventures that focus on conditioning, ultimately pushing for evidence-based product developments and solutions.

About Professor Kozo Hirata

Professor Kozo Hirata dedicated 33 years from April 1989 to March 2022 to academic research and education at Kobe Women's University. His research has gained attention as it addresses pressing societal concerns, such as heatstroke prevention and the impact of clothing on sweat regulation and skin blood flow—especially the physiological importance of AVA blood flow. His outreach efforts have not only contributed to academic literature but also provided practical knowledge to combat climate-related issues.

Hirata has actively participated in numerous collaborative research projects with various organizations, yielding significant advancements. One of his noteworthy contributions was proposing a physiological solution during the "Abnormal Heat Symposium in Kobe 2019." This initiative suggested establishing cooling stations with water to alleviate the impact of extreme temperatures within Kobe City. Additionally, he has served on committees providing expert insights, such as the examination of middle school standard uniforms in the city.

His contributions to education and research have been recognized with several awards, including the Distinguished Achievement Award from the Japan Society of Fiber Science and Technology in June 2019, and being honored as an exemplary contributor in academia by Hyogo Prefecture in 2020.
