Innovative Design Strategies: A Guest Visit by Infobahn's Shirai at Ritsumeikan University

In an exciting culmination of learning, Kaito Shirai, a renowned design strategist from Infobahn, is set to guest-speak at Ritsumeikan University's final lecture of the Media Design course, scheduled for July 15, 2026. This series, led by Associate Professor Mayu Akagi, has offered an innovative approach as it intertwines concepts of media and design, emphasizing their importance within business contexts.

Participants of this course have explored the impact of media-design interplay, engaging around 500 students who learned and developed ideas focused on user-centered design innovations. The course has been a platform for students to learn from real-life examples, illustrating how design can influence environments and experiences, making it a critical aspect in shaping effective media.

On the final lecture day, eight selected students from the course will present their projects. Shirai, who has led numerous collaborative projects at the INFOBAHN DESIGN LAB. — a unit under Infobahn focused on innovation and design — will provide valuable feedback based on his extensive experience in service design and practical business insights. His engagement not only aims to guide students in refining their presentations but also to connect them with real-world applications of their projects.

As the session concludes, Shirai will summarize and reflect on the innovations that can arise from the intersection of media and design. He plans to encourage discussions around creating environments for sustained value creation among diverse stakeholders within a complex societal context. This opportunity will allow students to critically think about how they can facilitate these connections to drive innovation and growth.
