Racing for a Cause: Valvoline, Hendrick Motorsports, and Blood Cancer United Team Up for Awareness
Valvoline Global Operations has partnered with Hendrick Motorsports and Blood Cancer United, formerly known as The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, to shine a light on pediatric blood cancer. In a remarkable collaboration during Blood Cancer Awareness Month, they have unveiled a special paint scheme on the No. 24 Valvoline Chevrolet, driven by NASCAR Cup Series champion William Byron, ahead of its debut at the ROVAL 400 at Charlotte Motor Speedway. This initiative marks a significant effort to raise awareness and support for children battling blood cancer.
The unveiling of this unique car design took place at the Atrium Health Levine Children's Hospital in Charlotte, NC. Not only was it a celebration of the car’s graphics, which were inspired by young patients, but it was also an opportunity to highlight the creativity and resilience of pediatric blood cancer survivors. Featuring whimsical designs such as unicorns and confetti created by four young artists, this car serves as a powerful symbol of hope and courage.
Dr. E. Anders Kolb, President and CEO of Blood Cancer United, expressed enthusiasm, stating, "Together, we are truly unstoppable in our mission to create a brighter future for children with blood cancer." He added that the partnership enables them to share their message of hope with millions of fans around the world, pushing forward their common goal of improving lives.
The initiative is part of Blood Cancer United's “Dare to Dream Project,” which aims for a $175 million investment to transform treatment and care for children with blood cancer. During this month, the No. 24 show car will also make appearances at Valvoline Global’s headquarters in Lexington, KY, emphasizing the collaborative effort behind this cause.
Jamal Muashsher, President and CEO at Valvoline Global, reiterated their commitment by saying, "Our work with Blood Cancer United is a testament to this commitment, and we are honored to support this worthy cause to create a better tomorrow for these children and their families."
The culmination of this campaign will occur on October 5th at the ROVAL 400, where Byron will race the car adorned with the children’s artwork, alongside four Honored Heroes—pediatric blood cancer survivors who contributed to the design. Byron expressed his pride in carrying their story on such a significant stage, emphasizing the importance of raising awareness about pediatric blood cancer, especially in his hometown.
Moreover, fans everywhere can join the movement by texting "GIVE" to 39999, with each contribution supporting the Dare to Dream Project. The partnership underscores a vital message: the importance of community support in the fight against pediatric blood cancer.
The significance of this collaboration extends beyond racing; it's a reminder that together, we can help those who are fighting to overcome blood cancer. With the backing of Valvoline Global and Hendrick Motorsports, Blood Cancer United aims to energize the campaign, aiming to improve healthcare access and quality of life for all affected.
