A New Approach to Empowering Children
As we witness rapid changes in the environment that children grow up in, it is vital to address the opportunity gap in physical activities. Modern children face numerous challenges, including reduced outdoor playtime, lower participation in sports, and the pervasive influence of smartphones and computers; all of which significantly diminish their chances of being active. The consequences of this lack of physical engagement are not just physical but also relate to developmental issues, such as poor posture and insufficient bodily coordination, leading to problems like clumsiness and reduced self-confidence.
Our vision at Produce is clear: athletic ability can be cultivated through the right processes, and every child has the potential to develop their physical skills. The period before the age of nine is particularly crucial for establishing a strong neural foundation that influences motor skills and confidence in tackling challenges. Unfortunately, the current sports landscape primarily focuses on specialized training in specific disciplines, leaving little room for building foundational physical skills. We believe addressing this lack of a solid base is essential for the future.
Our Commitment to Kids Sports Education
Through our “Kichijoji Produce Kids Sports” program, we aim to educate more children about the importance of developing their physical fundamentals. We leverage the expertise of physiotherapists to tailor our instruction according to each child's developmental stage, creating a safe and nurturing environment for growth.
What we strive for is not just a “place to attend,” but rather a “place to graduate.” Once children develop adequate physical skills and learn to control their bodies effectively, they can confidently venture into various fields such as soccer, dance, or everyday activities. Our mission is to help them trust their bodies and navigate through life independently. Additionally, we aim to integrate this initiative with education and community efforts, normalizing the concept of “prevention” from a young age. Instead of seeking to regain health as adults, we focus on nurturing resilient bodies from childhood, which not only lightens future medical burdens but also enhances individual quality of life.
By fostering not just physical fitness but also skills like exploration, execution, and critical thinking, we lay the groundwork for what we term “life skills.” In a world where children face countless uncertainties, the ability to think independently and act with confidence is more crucial than ever. The core of this capacity lies within the body.
Our approach is not just about transforming the mindset from “I can’t” to “I can,” but also inspiring children to believe that “I might be able to.” This is the dream we envision for Produce's Kids Sports classes—a bold challenge toward a better society.
