METLEN Energy & Metals PLC Reports Successful Business Development Update for 2026

METLEN Energy & Metals PLC: Business Development for 2026

On November 6, 2026, METLEN Energy & Metals PLC announced an impressive business update for the first nine months of the year, detailing its financial performance and strategic advancements. The firm, listed on the London Stock Exchange under MTLN, reported a record revenue of 6.2 billion Euros, marking a 21% increase from the previous year’s 5.1 billion Euros. This robust growth is a testament to the efficiency and resilience of METLEN's diverse business model.

Despite experiencing a significant operational challenge due to the 44-day shutdown of its largest gas turbine generator, the company has managed to maintain its optimism regarding future earnings. Completion of repairs allowed the facility to resume full operations on October 12, 2026. METLEN has reiterated its EBITDA forecast for 2026, maintaining projections of 1.00 to 1.15 billion Euros, with a mid-term goal of reaching 1.92 to 2.08 billion Euros.

The ongoing transformation of METKA into an independent infrastructure platform under the newly formed METKA Group is an integral part of the company’s strategy. A possible initial public offering on the Euronext Athens is under consideration to further bolster growth and enhance financial independence.

The company has also made strides in minimizing risks related to its MPP operations. Successful ignition of the energy recovery plant in Cheshire and the 560-MW gas peaker plant in Grudziądz, Poland, highlight its operational success. Additionally, METLEN progressed with its portfolio rotation strategy, exemplified by the sale of the Tamarico II solar and battery storage project in Chile.

On the materials front, METLEN's gallium business has seen a boost through a new long-term agreement with a prominent Japanese chemical firm, signifying upcoming demand expansion. The energy storage portfolio has also strengthened with significant battery storage projects in both Greece and Italy.

In a landmark move to enhance energy security and diversify its gas sources, METLEN has secured a five-year deal with PETRONAS for six LNG shipments annually, commencing in 2027.

Evangelos Mytilineos, the Chairman and CEO of METLEN, emphasized the company’s commitment to its strategic objectives despite continuing market challenges. He said, “Our priorities remain clear: consistent implementation, exceptional daily performance, and creating long-term sustainable values. We are confident in navigating market developments and fulfilling our commitments.”
