TEMSA Enhances Its European Presence by Delivering 15 Electric Buses to Lithuania
TEMSA Strengthens European Footprint with Electric Bus Delivery to Lithuania
On April 14, 2026, TEMSA, a pioneering name in the transportation sector, successfully completed the delivery of 15 MD9 electriCITY electric buses to Lithuania—one of Europe's prominent markets for public transport electrification. This strategic move highlights TEMSA's commitment to expanding its presence in the European market and underscores the importance of sustainable public transport solutions in the region.
The official delivery ceremony took place in Kaunas and was attended by several dignitaries, including representatives from the European Commission, local government officials, and members of the Central Project Management Agency. Notable figures included TEMSA's CEO, Evren Güzel, who expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership and the broader implications of this delivery.
These newly introduced buses will be managed by UAB Kautra, a major player in Lithuania's public transport sector and a long-standing partner of TEMSA for over 20 years. The vehicles are set to serve local public transportation services, tightening the collaboration between the two entities. This delivery aligns perfectly with Lithuania's ambitious plan to accelerate its transition toward zero-emission public transport systems.
Lithuania has established itself as a leader in Europe’s effort for transportation electrification, with the recent statistics from the European Commission indicating that electric buses accounted for approximately 52% of all new bus registrations in the country in 2025. This solidifies Lithuania’s commitment to sustainable mobility practices.
A Vision for Preferred Mobility
Reflecting on the significance of this delivery, Evren Güzel stated, "TEMSA has nearly 60 years of experience as a mobility partner. Our vehicles are operating in 70 countries worldwide. We're dedicated to becoming the 'Preferred Mobility Brand' by understanding the specific needs of each of our clients across different markets and regions."
Güzel further elaborated, "We are accessible, entrepreneurial, and agile. By actively listening to our customers, we transform their feedback into tangible solutions that create value. Our preparations for this transformation have been years in the making, with consistent investments in electrification. Currently, we have 11 zero-emission vehicles in our portfolio, and we are continually working on developing our battery systems and charge solutions. We aim to go beyond mere manufacturing and act as true mobility partners."
This delivery comes in the wake of TEMSA's efforts to bolster its position across Europe, with plans for further expansion in existing markets alongside entry into new ones. Just recently, they delivered ten units of their LD SB E model, the first intercity electric coach in Europe, to Portugal, marking the largest single order of this model to date.
Building Essential Infrastructure
Linas Skardžiukas, CEO of Kautra, expressed his appreciation regarding TEMSA's contributions to this strategic transformation, characterizing their collaborative approach as ecosystem management. Skardžiukas emphasized the need to extend beyond merely acquiring vehicles, highlighting the importance of developing the necessary infrastructure and charging solutions. He noted that the impact of a single electric bus can lead to a reduction of approximately 650 tons of CO₂ emissions over a decade, which is comparable to the emissions produced by about 360 passenger cars.
As of now, TEMSA's strong performance throughout 2025 has allowed for the expansion of their European reach into six new markets, including the Czech Republic, Finland, Croatia, Malta, Norway, and Poland, while also further solidifying their standing in markets they previously operated.
A Proven Electric Solution for Urban Mobility
TEMSA is dedicated to developing solutions that meet the unique needs of each customer, continuously adapting its product portfolio based on feedback and the evolving demands of mobility. Their MD9 electriCITY model is specifically designed for urban transportation, featuring a length of 9.5 meters and a robust 250 kW electric motor. This model is not only already in operation across various European countries such as Sweden, France, Romania, and Latvia, but it also represents TEMSA's inaugural entry into the electric vehicle export market.
With this continued dedication to fostering sustainable public transport systems, TEMSA is poised to make significant strides in both Lithuania and the European market as a whole, transforming urban mobility one electric bus at a time.
