Support for Children in Need through Book Santa

In an inspiring collaboration, CCCMK Holdings and Culture Experience, Inc. have come together to launch special designs for the V-Kisekae mobile card that assist the Book Santa charity initiative. This program, operated by the certified NPO Charity Santa, provides new books to children facing hardships due to poverty, illness, or disaster.

Launched in 2017, the Book Santa initiative aims to deliver books to children across Japan who are in difficult situations. By purchasing books at partner bookstores and donating them at the register, these generous contributions are delivered by volunteer Santas to children in need through various welfare organizations. This project serves children affected by a variety of challenges, including financial difficulties, hospitalization, loss of parents, or natural disasters.

From September 2025, participating TSUTAYA and Tsutaya Bookstores will once again enable customers to contribute towards the Book Santa initiative. This year, customers have generously donated an astonishing 12,685 books to support children in need through the program.

To amplify awareness and support for the Book Santa initiative, five unique donation designs for the V-Kisekae mobile card will be available for a limited time from November 4, 2025, to November 4, 2026. Profits from these designs will see 50% of the purchase price donated to Charity Santa to help fund the Book Santa Project. Importantly, this will be the first time that proceeds from the V-Kisekae product will directly support charitable efforts.

The Book Santa initiative is focused on providing opportunities for children to encounter books, regardless of their circumstances. The partnership aims to create a supportive network for children facing various challenges of experience inequality. The combination of an engaging app design and the purposeful act of donating to children in need harmonizes technology with philanthropy.

How to Participate in Book Santa 2025

1. Select a Book: Choose a book you wish to donate from participating stores. Books can include picture books, novels or encyclopedias for children aged 0-18 years, but comic books and study guides are excluded.
2. Make the Donation: Inform the cashier that you wish to participate in Book Santa when paying for the book. You'll receive a thank you sticker and a letter with a unique URL to see the kids’ reactions to your gift.
3. Delivery: The donated books will be delivered by Charity Santa's volunteer Santas along with other supporting organizations. If any donations cannot be delivered by Christmas, they will be provided as special gifts on children's birthdays.

What is V-Kisekae?

V-Kisekae is a unique service under the V Point application that allows users to customize their mobile V card. The application provides a variety of available designs, letting users express their preferences every time they open the app. Each design is priced at ¥165 (tax included), and customers can purchase multiple designs.
